COMMITTEE OPENINGS
Recent changes in the General Committee
Ordinance has created vacancies among
several of the Committees.
It has been resolved that only one family member Mil
be allowed to serve per committee, only one staff
member per committee and only one Tribal Council
member per committee.
The following committees have vacancies:
Cemetery 4
Education " 2
Health and Human Services 3
Timber 2
"The idea of a committee is to provide a link between
the community and the government," Jim Willis, Gen
eral Manager of the tribe, said. "A broader representa
tion of the community will bring the community input
into the tribal government process."
Community Encourager's Report
1 am happy to report that things are moving along well
on the project.
We have selected the Community Council Members
from the nine sectors of the community and will be
getting a representative from each of the sue committees
also selected.
I would like to thank everyone who applied for the
Community Council member positions. It was encourag
ing, to me, that most of the people who applied for the
Community Council member positions said they would
serve in a focus group if not selected.
As I write this report, I have not notified all of the
applicants of the selections made. However, I will
announce the members by name in my next report.
Our next step is to have an oriwlfation for the Commu
nity Council members. We will also have a town hall
meeting to get input concerning health care needs.
At our meeting we also selected the name of the
project from the entries submitted by tribal members.
The name of the project will be "Chee Mamook," which
means "New Beginnings" in Chinook jargon.
Myrna Brandon was the winner of the contest. She won
a $50.00 gift certificate from Fred Meyers.
We need everyone's input on this and I would like to
ask that everyone be as supportive as possible to the
Community Council members.
Michael J. Larsen
These changes are designed to open committee
involvement to tribal community members. We appreci
ate your interest and willingness to participate in the
tribal government process.
Individuals interested in applying for committee
positions should fill out the Committee Application
Form and return it to Jackie Whisler by February 14
1992.
