    TITLE: A&D YouthAdult Out-Patient Counselor
SALARY: $15,000 - $20,000 DOE
Permanent Full-time
REPORTS TO: Alcohol and Drug Program Director
CLOSING DATE: December 11, 1991
RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position is responsible for the delivery of effective
treatment services for the membership of the Confeder
ated Tribes of Grand Ronde; responsible for participa
tion in the development and design of effective treat
ment and prevention activities, for the delivery of
education services to youthadult patients, family, and
community; and for overall quality assurance activities.
DUTIES:
Direct activities toward specialized treatment and
rehabilitation as follows:
-Provide client assessments that shall include personal
history, alcohol abuse history, physical, social psycho
logical, and spiritual evaluations;
-Develop and implement individualized comprehensive
alcoholism treatment plans based on the assessment;
-Implement specific individual and group counseling
sessions for the client and hisher family;
-Utilize the various community resources as may be
needed to assist the client in plans for education,
vocational training, employment or housing;
-Help client schedule activities for personal, social, and
emotional rehabilitation;
-Coordinate and serve as liaison with courts, probation
officers, andor social services agencies as needed;
-Maintain all patient records in accordance with the
policies of the Tribe and Indian Health Services;
-Perform counseling duties in all phases of out-patient
counseling;
-Maintain and submit all required reports and forms;
-Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: - "7 "" r: 41
-Current certification as an alcohol counselor, or 3 years
experience counseling the chemically dependent;
-Past experience working with Indian people preferred;
-Demonstrate knowledge of AA, ALATEEN, and other
community programs;
-Must possess valid Oregon Driver's License;
-Must have adequate transportation;
-Must possess current CPR certification or be able to
obtain within 30 days of hire;
-TribalIndian preference will be applied

RESPONSIBILITIES:
To maintain a secure environment for adolescents in an
intensive residential substance abuse program. To
follow and carry out the plans during the designated
work schedule that will insure the well-being of the
adolescents.
DUTIES:
-Maintain client recordkeeping in accordance with
program requirements.
-Regularly monitor facility security.
-Regularly monitor status of client's whereabouts and
compliance with established schedules.
-Ensure patients' adherence to treatment schedules,
including satisfactory completion of daily patient chore
assignments.
-Supervise general cleanup when scheduled.
-Inform counselors of client rule or treatment infrac
tions, inappropriate client behavior, etc.
-Take immediate action when clients have broken
program rules, follow through by interviewing clients
nvolved. 4
r -Take immediate action when an emergency arises by
taking the necessary steps to insure the safety of the
client and facility.
-Demonstrate a positive role model behavior.
-Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
-High School DiplomaGED
-Two years experience in working in a adolescent
residential setting.
-Must be flexible to work varied shifts, weekends,
holidays.
-Ability to follow treatment protocol and maintain a
client log.
-Current CPR certification or must be able to obtain
within 14 days of hire.

gram; operating 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, year
around. Located in Keizer, Oregon.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
To professionally conduct all phases of counseling for an
adolescent population in an intensive residential sub
stance abuse program; and the development and
implementation of the Transitional Living Component
of the treatment program.
DUTIES: ""I"
-Participate as a member of a multi-disciplinary team in
planning and counseling and therapeutic services '
-Provide individual and group therapy to TLC clients. ,
-Develop, schedule, and implement activities appropri
ate to helping clients transition from a treatment setting
back into the community.
-Develop individualized plan for each TLC client to help
their transition back into the community.
-Implement and direct prevention andor intervention
activities for youth which stress development of coping
decision-making skills, and various constructive leisure
time activities (i.e. skating, bowling, swimming, basket
ball and other team sports; arts and crafts).
-Leads discussions and presents lectures and films for
group sessions
-Maintains the professional standards and follows the
treatment policies and procedures of IHS, and State
certification regulations
-Demonstrates positive role model behavior
QUALIFICATIONS:
-Prefer BABS in related field with experience counsel
ing youth; or 1 of the following; AA in related field,
Certified Substance Abuse Counselor or equivalent with
3 years experience counseling the chemically dependent
-Knowledge and understanding of Indian culture and
customs demonstrated by working with Native Ameri
cans -Knowledge of adolescent behavior
-Must have reliable transportation and valid drivers
license
