JOB ANNOUNCEMENTS TITLE: HuntingFishingNewsletter Program Director REPORTS TO: Program Operations Manager SALARY: $16,000 - $19,000 annual salary CLOSING DATE: August 30, 1991 RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for overseeing the day to day activities of the tribal subsistence program, including implementation the hunting, fishing and gathering agreement between Ihe ; Tribe and State; and preparing the tribal newsletter for distribution. DUTIES: -Responsible for oversight of the day to day program activities, including supervising the assistant, program budgeting, and planning. -Responsible for issuing tribal hunting, fishing and gather ing licenses, tags and permits. -Dcvclo'pes and implements a plan for securing and distrib uting subsistence fish. -Maintains appropriate hunting, fishing and gathering logs and records in accordance with program guidelines and agreement with the State of Oregon. -Coordinates planning, layout and design, editing and dis tribution of monthly and special editions of tribal news letter. -Writes stories and articles, and takes photographs for tribal newsletter. -Provides reports as required to Federal, State, and Tribal Council. -Coordinates hunting, fishing and gathering agreement activities with the Tribal Fish & Wildlife committee. -Other related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: -Must have high school diploma or GED. -Two years college preferred in journalism andor natural resources. -Practical work experience in journalism preferred; includ ing writing, editing, photography and layout and design areas. -Work experience with computers helpful, including Wordperfect and Pagemaker software. -Demonstrable writing skills. -Demonstrable oral skills. -Must have valid Oregon Driver's License -Must be willing to travel. -Must be willing to work flexible hours; andor weekends. -TribalIndian preference applied. DUTIES; -Assist members who have chronic and acute illnesses by coordinating health services and resources. -Insure the continued good health of prenatal patients, infants and children. -Deliver health education and disease prevention presen tations to members. -Coordinate health services and resources for members who have requested assistance and for those that the tribal health program has identified as "in need" of assistance. -Maintain patient record keeping practices to assure qual ity assurance which complies with federal, state and tribal reporting requirements. -Transport patients in accordance with the tribal health transporting guidelines. -Conduct home visits to analyze the progress of the health status of members. -Demonstrate, promote and encourage, patient self-care practices. -Serve as liaison for patients concerning their health care. -Assist and help patients resolve health access obstacles. -Other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS: -Minimum 1 year experience working in a care taking capacity, i.e. home health care, nursing home, etc. -Current CPR and First Aid Card -Ability to maintain patient confidentiality a must. -Ability to read and understand material to assist patients. -Knowledge of Indian culture and ability to work with Indian elders. -Valid Oregon Driver's License -Good Communication skills to act as liaison for patients. -Willing to and have the ability to travel in all weather conditions. -Provide 3 references attesting to work experience as a CHR or in health related field a must . JEFFERS DIES Memorial services for "Eddie" Francis Jeffers, 73, Powers, were held on Wednesday, July 3, at the Church of God in Powers with Pastor Kenneth Stevens officiat ing. Private inurnment was held at a later date at Powers Cemetery. Eddie died in his sleep at his apartment. He was ioved by all who knew him and we will surely miss him. Mr. Jeffers was born on Sept. 29, 1917, in Eugene, and died on June 29, 1991 at Powers. He was preceded in death by his brother, Fred Jeffers. He had been President of the Powers Pioneer House Association and was mascot of the Powers Cruisers Bas ketball team. He had worked at Georgia Pacific mill, for Coos County, helping build Powers Park and for the Forest Service. Survivors induce his sister Isabelle Fry of Powers; nieces, Louise Hannaford and Bonnie Findley, both of Myrtle Point; nephew, Gene Rogers of Bend, and numerous great nieces and great nephews.
