1 THE CONFEDERATED TRIBES OF THE GRAND RONDE COMMUNITY OF OREGON Pow Wow 1991 TRIBAL ELECTIONS NOTICE On August 7, 1991, the Tribal Council elected to amend the Election Ordinance to make the notarization of signatures for the absentee ballot requests from mandatory to optional, concern was voiced about the timing of requiring notarizations in a short time frame prior to this year's election. However, the Tribal Council did state it is their intention to make notarizations mandatory following the September 7, 1991 Tribal Council election. BACK TO SCHOOL MEETING - SEPT. 6, 1991 A reminder of the Education Program's "Back to School" meeting for all continuing and new entering students enrolled in the Adult Vocational Training and Higher Education Programs. The annual gathering will be held on September 6. 1991 on the Salem Campus of Chemeketa Community College, Bldg. 28, Rm. A, from 8:30 am to 12:00 noon. This meeting is being conducted to answer any last minute questions you may have before the school year starts. We will have on hand representatives from various community colleges and four year colleges and universities to explain support services, and programs. A representative from Chemeketa's Financial Aid Office will also answer any questions you may have regarding your FAF filing, or Singlefile filing, review Federal Student Aid Reports and discuss changes or procedures you should be aware of during the 1991-1992 school year. Following the morning workshop, a luncheon will be provided for all students. During this time members of the Tribal Council and Education Committee will be present to meet with students. All college students and parents are invited to attend the September 6th meeting. Please call in your confirmation of attendance no later than August 30th, 1991. See you on September 6th. THANK YOU! During the 1990 1991 school year, the Church of the Nazarene provided classroom space for the Education Program to conduct Family Math & Science classes. Additionally on May 24, the Education Program conducted it's "Honor & Recognition " Dinner for all graduating Eighth Grade, High School and College tribal members. I have met some really nice people and enjoy the activity and events that I got to attend.
