Concluding the commencement, Angie commented that she was very proud her parents and sisters witnessed her receiving her diploma. In summing up her thoughts Angie wrote; "My name is Angela Bedortha and I have received an Associate of Science degree Majoring in Early Childhood Education. I am aware that the Tribe has applied for a "start up" grant to establish a Head Start Program in Grand Ronde. I hope that is if is approved I can work in the capacity as head teacher. This would be a wonderful experience for me. It would also give me an opportunity to serve my people after all they have done for me. Eventually, I would like to open my own Day Care Center in the community. In the future I may decide to continue my education at Oregon state University to earn a Bachelor's degree in Education. I would like to thank my family for their constant encouragement, support and faith in me. There were a a lot of times that I felt like just giving up, but they were there to hold me up and get me going again. My parents are Jess and Candy Robertson, and my sister, Debbie Childers, were especially supportive of my educational goals. I would also like to thank Dean Azule, for all his faith in me. There were times that he knew I would make it when even I didn't think so. Last of all I would like to thank the Tribe for offering me this great opportunity. Without their financial assistance I may have never been able to continue my education. Now, to all of those people out there who are thinking about furthering your education. It is possible! An education is not so far out of your reach. Dontlet obstacles stand in the way. An education can open many doors for you. Once you get into school it may seem that your arc there forever, but everyday you are getting closer toward bunding a better future for yourself.'
