Smoke Signals July 1991 page 10 POW-WOW VENDOR INFORMATION The Pow-Wow Committee cordially extends an invita tion to interested vendors for the 1991 Grand Ronde Pow-Wow. The Pow-Wow Committee urges Indian American dealers to apply for reserved space. The Pow Wow Committee is not responsible for individual wares and possessions. Spaces 1 thru 18 (20 ft. by 25 ft.) will be furnished with 110 volt electrical power. These spaces will be charged $40 per day, August 17 & 18. Spaces for individual table sct-p are available in the covered area behind the elders seating, and on the outside perimeter of the electrical spaces. These spaces will be charged $15 per day, August 17 & 18. TABLES ARE NOT PROVIDED. These spaces are first come, first serve and allocated at the discretion of the Pow Wow vendor staff. Your host and hostess for the 1991 Pow-Wow are Ken Schmid and Patty Hoopingarner. Tribal staff member, Margo Mercier, will be your contact person for reserva tion forms and Pow-Wow information. She may be reached at (503) 879-5211 ext. 129, or may be written to in care of the Tribal Office. The Pow-Wow vendor staff will open the Pow-Wow grounds at 5:00 p.m., Friday, August 16th for set-up. No charge will be made for Friday sales. NO EARLY ENTRIES, NO EXCEPTIONS! The Pow-Wow Committee will no allow the sale of novelty items such as balloons, balls, cap guns, noise makers, squirt guns, etc. Our Pow-Wow is a celebration of Indian culture and distracting sale items are not welcome. AH applications received before August 10, 1991 will be confirmed by mail and a vendor number assigned. This will enable us to help you set-up in an efficient manner. All applications received August 10th and after, are subject to Pow-Wow Committee discretion. Vendors may pay their fees upon entry or you may make a collection appointment for Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon with the vendor staff. Marvin's dedication to Nanitch Sahallie clients is apparent in all facets of his work. He is particularly noted for recognizing the need for appropriate staff coverage in a residential unit and is most always volun-. teering to fill another staffs shoes when the staff member is unexpectedly absent due to illness or other problems. If it seems that staff may need more assis tance, Marvin will stay at work until a crisis is resolved. The words, "call Marvin..." are a byword when someone is needed. Marvin is highly respected by his peers for fostering cultural awareness and physical fitness. Marvin is a marathon and sprint runner. This, of course, means that he is a fine role model of joyful, healthy and responsible sobriety for Native American youth. Mr Fragua is also a good role model in the continu ation of his education. Marvin has managed to fit an impressive amount of school hours into an already full life.
