Forest Technician
(Temporary)
WAGE: $7.23 to $9.23 per hour - 40 hours
SUPERVISOR: Cliff Adams, Tribal Forester

QUALIFICATIONS:
- To qualify as a Forest Technician candidates must have
an Associate Degree in Forest Technology or 5 years
experience in related Forest Technology work.
- Must have reliable transportation, a valid drivers
license, as well as a good driving record.
- Must be in good physical condition, be able to ascend
and descend steep slopes.
DUTIES:
- To assist the Forestry staff in sale preparation and
layout. This will include posting, traversing, road and
setting layout, cruising and gathering technical data.

Forestry Aide

SALARY: $6.75 to $8.25 per. hr.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Be at least 18 years old.
Be in good physical condition and able to pass a Fire
Fighters Fitness Test.
Be experienced in the operation of chainsaws.
Have a valid drivers license and a good driving record.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Have a USFS firefighters red card or able to obtain
one by attending an approved firefighters camp.
- Willing to work weekends, long days, and travel
outside the Grand Ronde area.
DUTIES:
The person in this position will assist the Forestry staff
in activities such as slashing, pre-commercial thinning,
slash burning, wildfire suppression, equipment repair
and cleaning, and other duties as assigned.

JOB TITLE: Administrative Assistant
REPORTS TO: Program Operations Manager
SALARY: $16,500. - $22,000.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position is responsible for the coordination
of support services for the Program Operations Man
ager, including secretarial and personnel related
activities.
DUTIES INCLUDE:
Responsible for maintenance of personnel files in
accordance with Tribal policies.
- Responsible for the preparation and distribution of
monthly leave, accident and personnel reports.
Responsible for coordination of all job announcements
and advertisements, including acceptance of job applica
tions for all programs and services.
- Responsible for receipt and review of all applications,
checking references, conducting preliminary reviews
prior to interviewing, including driving record and
background checks.
Responsible for review and monitoring of staff
timesheets for compliance with Tribal policies and
procedures.
Coordinatemonitors tickler system to insure that
evaluations, training and work plans are done annually.
Assists in the reviewrevision of Personnel Manual.
Provides secretarial support services.
Assists with the writing and development of technical
manuals to meet Tribal program service needs.
Maintains confidentiality of records in accordance with
Tribal and federal policies and laws.
- Assists in program evaluation and monitoring.
Assists in program development and grant writing.
QUALIFICATIONS: , , . .
- Must have a two year degree and at least three years
experience or at least five years work experience in
office managerial work; secretarial andor human
resources or personnel areas.
- Must be able to type 60 wpm
Must have basic computer skills in word processing
and some experience with Lotus 123 and Database Man
agement systems.
- Must have good organizational and written and oral
communication skills.
- Must be willing to accept training.
TribalIndian preference applies.
Preference will be given to qualified Tribal staff.

Red Cloud Indian Art Show
Benefactors of American Indian artists have provided
more than $10,000 in awards for this year's Red Cloud
Indian Art show, which opens June 9 at Pine Ridge,
South Dakota.
Now in its 23rd year, the Red Cloud show is open to all
Native American artists - Indian, Eskimo and Aleut -eighteen
years or older.
Sponsored by the Heritage Center of Red Cloud
Indian School, it is the nation's largest show of its kind,
with artists of more than 30 different Tribes repre
sented. All works entered must be for sale, and each year 40
percent or more of the works displayed are sold,
"Brother CM. Simon, S. J., director of the show said.
No entry fees are charged, and the show is admission
free to the public, June 9 through August 11.
Artists wishing to enter their works can get entry forms

JOB TITLE: Accounting Clerk
CLASSIFICATION: PermanentFull Time
SALARY: $13,000 to $16,000
DUTIES:
- Process checks on an automated accounting system;
ensuring compliance with Tribal policies regarding
authorization procedures as well as following depart
mental policies regarding the process for preparing
checks.
- Filing of miscellaneous information pertaining to
accounting functions.
Assist in posting data on the automated accounting
system to appropriate journals or the general ledger as
needed, and documenting such work per departmental
policies.
- Assist in reconciling of journals and accounts.
- Assist in preparing, typing and filing of reports and
documents.
Prepare a mail log of all outgoing correspondence and
payments and ensuring that all information is mailed on
a timely basis.
- Assist in maintaining data files on the computer system
on an as-needed basis.
Other duties as assigned.
QUAUFICATIONS:
Willing to travel
- Willing to participate in various training programs.
- High School graduate or G.E.D.
- Experience with a computerized accounting system
preferred.
A minimum of six months computer experience
required-worddata processing, etc.
- Able to operate an adding machine by touch.
- Must have a valid Oregon Driver's License and reliable
transportation.

Job Information Fair
The City of Salem is hosting its fourth annual Job
Information Fair, co-sponsored by Chemeketa Commu
nity College with the theme "Building Diversity in the
Work Force." It will be held on Thursday, April 11, at
Chemeketa Community College, Building 7 gymnasium.
The Fair begins at 12 noon and will be open until 6 p.m.
Individuals are welcome to come any time during the
day. Admission to the event is free.
Representatives of state, federal, county and city
agencies, private employers, educational programs, and
employment services will be at the Fair with information
about full-time, part-time, summer, and temporary jobs,
educational opportunities, and other services for people
looking for work. All those interested in finding out
