Men with high concentrations of abnormally shaped sperm were seven times as likely to have used cocaine for five years or more and two years or longer ago, and four times as likely to have used it once a month or more. The researchers said male infertility plays some role in almost two-thirds of couples who have trouble conceiving. "The Parade To Celebrate Our Freedom" Over Twice the Stroke Risk Women smokers are more than twice as likely as other women to suffer a disabling or fatal stroke, according to ' a study conducted by Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. The eight year study followed 118,539 women between the ages of 30 and 55. Women who smoked up to 14 cigarettes a day were 2.2 times more likely to have a stroke than non-smoking women; those who smoked 25 or more cigarettes a day were 3.7 times more likely to be stroke victims. The increased stroke risk was not limited to women with high blood pressure or other stroke risks; all women smokers had an increased risk, according to the study's director, Dr. Graham Colditz. "This study makes a fairly clear message for smokers," he said. A stroke results when the blood flow through an artery supplying blood to the brain is blocked, or when a weakened blood vessel in the brain bursts. The exact mechanism by which smoking increases stroke risk is not yet understood. - Courtesy of Hope Health Letter Get Booked On ffinrfrfh WW"-- - --y--' ft Si: .1, '.jjf , -. Tribal youth Adam Leno, a fourth grade student from Grand Ronde, was the Grand Prize winner of a contest to determine this theme. Accordin to the celebration's program guide Adam's entry "was original and well thought out." The parade committee would like to thank all the students who participated in this year's contest. Adam Leno Dean Christ for Indian Organizer of the Year The American Indian Movement has nominated Dean Christ, Founder and Spokesman for Stop Treaty Abuse of Minocqua, Wisconsin as "Indian Organizer of the Year." ' Racist propaganda developed by Dean Christ and his followers was displayed at boat landings throughout Northern Wisconsin by drunken sign-carrying members of STA. Stop Treaty Abuse members referred to Indian People as "Timber Niggers," and called on its member ship to "Spear a pregnant Indian woman" and save two walleyes. Dean Christs total-scholastic retardation about treaties made between Sovereign Indian Nations and a Colonial government that occupied our lands when these treaties were signed, allowed Stop Treaty Abuse membership to conduct rock-throwing attacks against spear fishermen and their families, spitting on Indian women and children. Dean Christ's total ignorance about Indian culture, tradition and the true history of Indian America, as well as his connection with other white supremacist hate groups and his praise Ku Klux Klan philosophy, has done more to promote solidarity between Indian Nations and educate the non-Indian community about treaty rights than George Armstrong Custer, John Wayne and Ronald Reagan all together. - Courtesy of The Lakota Times
