GRAND RONDE COMMUNITY OF OREGON - July 1990
1990 Graduate
Name: Kelly Jeanne (Pichette) Nelson
School: California State University Sacramento
Degree: Bachelor of Arts, School of Arts & Sciences
Program: Biology -Major, Chemistry -Minor
My name is Kelly Jeanne Pichette-Nclson. I am the
daughter of John and Jayne Pichette, the grand-daughter
of Dollie Leno-Pichctte-Baker, and the great-granddaughter
of Tilmer Leno. My aunts are Mable Pichctte
Gaston and Florence Pichette-Freclove.My sisters arc
Margaret Boyd, Sharon Cox and Phyllis Beadwcll. I am
married to Robert M. Nelson, and we just celebrated
our 15th wedding anniversary. We have two children, a
daughter 11 years old named Sarah Jeanne, and a son 8
years old who's name is Raymond Matthew. Rob and I
started college when our children were still very young.
We started our schooling at a small community college
in 1983, where I earned an A A. degree in MathScience
and a B.A. in Psychology with a Business minor.
My primary goal is to become a physician and work
with an agency like Indian Health Service. I have just
received word from Hahneman University School of
Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania that I have been
accepted into their Fall 1990 class. If all goes according
to plan, my family and I will move back east and in a few
years I will complete a goal, and make my dream a
reality. If for some reason I am unable to accept the
position at Hahnemann, we will work toward our
Masters program here at CSUS in the Fall. We will
work toward our Masters of Social Work, Rob's concen
tration will be in Child and Family welfare, and my
concentration will be in Health. Upon completion of my
MSW I will again apply to various medical schools.
My advise to anyone with similar dreams is; GO FOR
IT! I am proof positive that dreams do come true, But
only with Hard work. Never give up, the only limits ate
the limits you set on yourself. I know it sounds like a -Cliche,
but it really is true. Go to school, pay attention,
get to know people, follow directions, information is
your best friend so learn as much about what you want
to do with your life as you can. And above all be tena
cious!! Do not allow set backs to discourage you from
obtaining your goals. Also do not be afraid of change
because through change comes growth, and through
growth we develop a greater understanding of ourselves.
Dreams are never easy to make a reality, but all the
hard work is worth it!
