Our first recipient, for the 1990 1991 school year, of :
an Oregon Minority Achievement Scholarship is Ms.
Angie Leno! Angie is senior at Willamina High School,
who has maintained an accumulative GPA of 3.98.
Angie receives the State Scholarship to attend Western
Oregon State College. The Minority Scholarship pays
for full tuition and fees for the next five academic years
and is worth approximately $8,430. Angie, you have our
congratulations and best wishes!
Students Honored at
Grand Ronde
Students of the month at Grand Ronde Elementary
School for February were announced in a Positive
Action assembly on March 7. Students honored were:
First grade: Jeremy Wright, Justin Biller and SAM
SON GEORGE.
Second grade: DIANA ROBERTSON, Kenneth Ris
seeuw and Rachel Towner.
Third grade: Clayton Biller and Tina Butler.
Fourth grade: Tiffany Clark, Wendy Dawkins and
Stacy Emra.
Fifth grade: Sharon Emra, Nikki Hunt, Lena Kendall
and Kailccn Rouse.
The following students earned Homer Bucks for
reading at home or being read to in February at least
ten days out of the month for fifteen minutes each day:
Kindergarten: Brent Bauer, Naomi Hartill, Christo
pher McGraw, David Tclfer and Matthew Wright.
First grade: TIMMY LANGLEY, Kasen McGraw,
Muchal Pond, Jeremy Wright and Justin Biller.
Second grade: Samantha Kendall, ANDY LANGLEY,
Alex Mclcher, Helena Telfer, Rachel Towner and Carey
Wright.
The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde has estab
lished trust funds in the amount of $50,000 each for
education, housing and health programs in their 1990
tribal budget.
The Education fund will provide scholarships to college
graduate and undergraduate students, and also recogni
tion and achievement scholarships to primary, interme
diate and high school students.
This program is open to all enrolled members of the
Grand Ronde Tribe, regardless of residence or age.

Deadline
Slots are filling up fast. The sooner you can submit
your completed Higher Education or Adult Vocational
Training application the better. But if you are still
deciding and are uncertain about school for next year,
the final deadline for submitting applications is July 31st,
1990.
This means you must have a completed application into
this office by July 1st, 1990. This also means you must
have your submitted Financial Aid Form (FAFS) for
the '90 - '91 school year. You can't complete your appli
cation, then file an FAF, chances are we will have filled
all higher education and adult vocational training slots :
already by the July 31st deadline. So file early and file
your FAF now!!

Meetings
The next scheduled Education Committee meeting will
be held on May 31st from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Meeting
will be held in the Tribal Council Room.
Last Family Science & Family
Math Class for the Year
The last Family Science & Math class for the 1989 -1990
school year will be held on May 29lh, 1990, from
5:30 pm to 7:00 pm. Classes will be held at the Grand
Ronde Elementary School with planned activities. To
close this years math and science class, a barbecue will
be sponsored by the JOM & Education Programs. So
come early and enjoy the fun. See you on the 29th! For
