TEMPORARY POSITION ARTICLES NEEDED FOR NATIVE PRESS ANNUAL The Native American Press Association (NAPA) is now accepting articles, essays, and research papers by Native American writers, journalists and students concerning the state of Indian journalism. Past, present and future perspectives on the state of Indian journalism will be accepted. Suggested article topics include, but are not limited to, freedom of the press on Indian reservations, recruitment and retention of American Indian journalism students, Native Ameri can journalists and press responsibilities, the role of the press on Indian reservations, etc. Final selections will be made in January 1989. Students and working professionals are encouraged to submit their articles or papers by December 31, 1989. Papers submitted will not be returned. Dana was awarded an Oregon Minority Tuition & Fee Scholarship to attend Oregon State University. The Scholarship will provide Dana a total of $1,707 each year for tuition & fees for the next five years. Ms. Leno received the award based on her academic achievement, a 3.40 Accum. GPA in high school, and her leadership abilities. Dana is majoring in Accounting & Business Administra tion. She attends OSU along with her sister Lisa Leno, who is majoring in Home Economics. NATIVE AMERICAN JOUR NALISTS WANTED FOR JOURNALISM REGISTRY Native American journalists working in print, radio and television are encouraged to submit their names for inclusion in the Native American Press Association's Journalism Registry. The registry will provide the journalist's name, address, phone number, place of employment, job position, and tribe. The registry will be given to interested job recruiters, schools, and other journalists. Native American student journalists are encouraged to register. Susan Arkeketa, NAPA director, said that the registry is needed to identify Native American journalists working in either the tribal or mainstream press. She added that the registry will be a valuable tool for job recruiters who are looking for Native American journal ists.
