My name is Gene LaBontc. I have served on our Tribal
Council in the past; I served a one year term in 1987, of
which I attended a lot of workshops and seminars on how
toset up aTribal Government, including Tribal Courts and
Corporations. ' '. . '
I enjoyed the year I served on the Council, but didn't have "
time to reach the goals I had planned ooi My top goals ,
would be, taking care of our elders' needs and health, ,

Local Businessman Bob Mercier is running for Counci
My name is Bob Mercier, I have lived in the Grand
RondeWillamina area all my life. I work for Taylor
Lumber and have a small business of my own.
' I have been aware and interested in tribal issues for
sometime now and would like to be more involved wit
the tribe. If I were serving on the Tribal Council 1
would work toward trying to make more services
available to more of the tribal population. Economic
development is also one of my priorities. After workii
with the timber industry for 23 years 1 feel I have uscf
knowledge of our natural resources, and would like to
be a part of the tribe's efforts in becoming self sufficie
I feel decisions being made now are going to be an
important part of all our futures, and 1 would be
