1989 PAGEANT GUIDELINES SET
POTENTIAL PAGEANT
CONTESTANTS
Are you interested in running for Miss or Jr. Miss
Grand Ronde for 1989? Would you like to learn more
about your Tribal traditions and values?
I have attended various Pow-Wows and numerous
activities throughout the year. It has been a great
learning experience that I've enjoyed it very much and
feel t'aat this would be rewarding for all young woman
and girls who have the ambition to learn their Native
American culture.
The deadline to enter is April 28th and the ages are: Jr.
Miss -(ages 8-13) and Sr. Miss - (ages 14-19.)
If you have any questions concerning the pageant, or
would like an application to enter, please call Michael at
879-5211, Wednesday through Friday from 8:00 to 5:00
p.m.. '

POWWOW MAINTENANCE
TO BE CONTRACTED OUT
The pow-wow committee is contracting the maintenance
and clean-up duties, during our two day event. On
Saturday August 19th the hours will be noon 1:00 a.m.
and on Sunday the hours will be from 10:00 a.m. until
the clean-up is done (the pow-wow will end at approxi
mately 6:00 p.m.).
The duties to be performed will be:
Keep the bathrooms and shower-rooms cleaned and
stocked (in the school as well as the port-a-potty's)
-Grounds kept cleaned
-All garbage cans emptied
-Sweep parking lot
-Sweep and mop gym
-Put tables and chairs away
-Vacuum cafeteria
-Other duties as assigned
These duties to be performed at the end of each day!!
Contracters will be paid $300.00 for both days. The
group which is accepted will be required to attend one
evening meeting before the pow-wow to go over the
duties. If you have a group which is interested, please
submit a written proposal.

Guidelines: LITTLE MISS GRAND RONDE
1) Must be at least 8 years old and not over 13 years old
by August 18, 1989.
2) Must be an enrolled member of the Confederated
Tribes of Grand Ronde.
3) Must be able to attend all activities, parades, fund
raisers and scheduled appearances.
4) Must be able to attend all organizational meetings,
unless excused in advance.
5) You must be drug and alcohol free. Any misconduct
will result in disqualification from the court
6) You must be willing, by your behavior, to represent
your Tribe in the best possible manner.
7) You are expected to show good judgement and not
participate in activities that would bring adverse public
ity to the Tribe, while you are a member of the court.
8) If at any time during the year you become pregnant,
you will be disqualified and will lose an title won.
9) You are advised to acquire a sponsor grandmother,
mother, aunt, or friend that can help you with the
pageant activities. This is not a requirement, but may be
of help to you.
10) You must have a ribbon dress, moccasins and
leggings.
11) You must have a willingness to dance, (assistance
will be offered if needed).
12) You must have a willingness to speak in front of a
large group.
13) You are allowed to miss only three out of 15 20
events during the scheduled time.
14) You will be required to make at least one item of
your regalia, and be able to explain why you chose that
article and what it means to you.
15) You must be fully dedicated to the activities of the
pageant.

1989. THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS TO

1) Must be at least 14 years old and not over 19 years
old by August 18, 1989.
2) Must be an enrolled member of the Confederated
Tribes of Grand Ronde.
3) Must be single with no dependents'
4) Must be able to attend all activities, parades, fund
raisers and scheduled appearances.
5) Must be able to attend the organizational meetings,
unless excused IN ADVANCE.
6) Drug and alcohol free. Any misconduct will result in
disqualification from the court.
7) Willing, by your behavior, to represent your Tribe in
the best possible manner.
8) Expected to show good judgement and not partici
pate in activities that would bring adverse publicity to
the Tribe, while you are a member of the court.
9) You will be disqualified from the court and will
forfeit any title won, if at any time during the year you
become pregnant.
