Other staff for the Youth Residential Treatment Center have been hired and will begin working during the next two weeks. The Program is scheduled to begin accept ing clients on April 17th, 1989. (continued on page 2) GENERAL COUNCIL MEETING AGENDA SET Agenda items for the General Council meeting on April 2, 1989 will include a review of the Tribes' Master Plan, and acquiring the Depot facility for office space. During the past few months, Coopers Consultant's has been preparing a Master Plan for the Tribe. The purpose of the Master Plan is to look at the housing and facility needs of the Tribe and its membership. The plan is in draft form and the Tribal Council is inviting input from the membership on the topic. The Grand Ronde Tribal Council has also begun negotiations with the Tribal Corporation to regain use of the Depot for Tribal Office space. The Corporation is asking for $26,000 for the facility, but Tribal programs originally paid for the purchase and renovation of the building. The building was originally purchased under the Corpo ration, since the just federally recognized tribal govern ment, did not have the financial resources for loans or major purchases. At that time the Tribal Government and Corporation were closely related. However, with Restoration, two entities were created. The Tribal Government operating under the Tribal Constitution and the Corporation under a State of Oregon chartered non-profit corporation. Both bodies are responsible to the general membership. Currently, the Corporation holds title to the Depot building and the Grand Ronde Cemetery lands. In 1985, the Tribe, through program services dollars, purchased the facility for $8,015.00. Additionally, the Tribal Government, through the Community Health Contract paid $23,791.29 to renovate the facility for Tribal office space. Thus, the Tribal Government has put in $31,806.29 to date for the facility. Currently, the Manor Office is at capacity, with little room for additional staff as the tribal programs and services grow. Representatives from the Corporation will be present to discuss the issue with the General Council. In other business, the General Council will be updated on the Youth going to Florida, and Stan Kneeland's participation in the Boston Marathon. A meal will be provided, beginning at 12 noon and the meeting will start at 1 p.m. GENERAL COUNCIL MEETING APRIL 2, 1989 GRAND RONDE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL 12 NOON-MEAL & MEAL-1PM INSIDE: JOB ANNOUNCEMENTS..
