UPCOMING
ACTIVITIES
Several activities are scheduled for the next month.
Below are some highlights:
PORTLAND AREA ALCOHOLDRUG
PROGRAM OPEN HOUSE
The Grand Ronde Alcohol and Drug Program will be
holding an open house at the Silctz Portland Area
Office, located at 1710 NE 82nd Avenue, between the
hours of 3:30 pm and 7:00 pm., on November 29th.
The purpose of the open house is to identify possible
AANA sponsors and any at risk tribal members who
wish to attend.
"I urge you folks who live in Multnomah County to come
on out and look us over, have a cup of coffee and talk.
We have a real need for AANA sponsors so I'm--looking
forward to meeting each of you," says Monte
Ring, Outpatient Counselor for the Tribe.
HIGHER EDUCATION AND CAREER
AWARENESS WORKSHOP
How will you pay for college? What are the procedures
to apply for TribalBIA grants? How do you Qualify for
Oregon Minority Tuition Scholarships? What services
do colleges offer students? Why college? These will be
just a few of the topics covered at this workshop to be
held December 1st.
The workshop will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at
the Nazarene Church, (tentative) in Grand Ronde.
The workshop is open to all interested persons, includ
ing High School students, parents of students who want
to gam more education, and adult Tribal members inter
ested in going to school.
There is no charge to participate, but please call the
Education Program (879-5211) if you plan to attend so
arrangements for lunch can be set. See page 5 for
additional information.

Veterans are honored during Chemawa Veteran's Day Pow-Wow

POSITIVE INDIAN PARENTING
Frank Peterson, Rehabilitation After-Care Specialist at
Siletz, will be in Grand Ronde December 3 & 4 to
present "Positive Indian Parenting". This Family
Services Project will be free to anyone interested in
attending.
This parenting seminar is addressed to Indian issues and
combines traditional and cultural views to solving
problems. Baby sitting will be provided for those of you
with children.
Classes will be starting at 9:30 a.m.
ARTSCRAFTS & RAKE CHRISTMAS
SALE
Arts & crafts and baked goods will be on sale Saturday,
December 3, 1988 at Grand Ronde Elementary School,
from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
People interested in buying, selling or trading Christmas
items can contact Margaret Provost or Darlene Arron
for table reservations at 879-5211. There is no set up
charge for Tribal members, and all ages are welcome
and encouraged to participate.
ANNUAL CHRISTMAS PARTY
The annual Christmas Party for the Grand Ronde
Tribes is scheduled for December 17, 1988 at the Grand
Ronde Elementary School.
Contact the Tribal Office for more information on
scheduled time and activities.
GENERAL COUNCIL MEETING
The December General Council Meeting
is scheduled for December 4, 1988, beginning at 12
Noon at the Grand Ronde Elementary School.
