4TH ANNUAL POW-WOW
SCHEDULE OF ACTIVITIES
A major event of the Grand Ronde Tribes comes
together on August 20th, 1988, as tribal mem
bers and guests enjoy our 4th annual Pow wow.
Below is an overview of the activities for the
dy
HORSESHOE TOURNAMENT:
The Second Annual Horseshoe tournament will
begin at 10:30 a.m. on the grounds behind the
Tribal Office. The categories will be singles and
doubles. The cost will be $5.00 for singles and
$7.00 for doubles. There will be trophies for
1st - 3rd places in each category. Horseshoes
will be supplied. Eor more information, call

SPIRIT MOUNTAIN FUN RUNWALK EOR HEALTH
The Tribal Health Department is sponsoring a
fun runwalk for all ages! Beginning at 8:00
a.m., there will be a one mile and three mile
run: at 9:30 a.m. there will be 50 yard dash for
liny Tots; and at 10:00 to 12 Noon, interested
persons can participate in a 1 or 3 mile walk.
The registration fee is $3.00 and prizes will
include trophies, ribbons and t -shirts. See
page 6 for a registration form and more infor
mation ARTS AND CRAFTS & FOOD VENDORS .
Arts and crafts and food vendors will be set up
by 12 noon and will be selling a wide variety of
Native American crafts and delicious foods.

ID CAMERA AND HUNTING LICENSES AND TAGS
Tribal ID. card photos, fishing and hunUng
licenses, and hunting tags will be issued from
12 noon to 4:30 pm on the day of the pow-

Since the staff are Involved with the pow wow,
these hours will be strictly adhered to. For

MEAL
The Grand Ronde Tribes will be sponsoring a
meal from 12 noon to 3 p.m. Hie menu in
cludes baked salmon, fry bread, and much,
much more. There is no charge for the meal,
but donations would be appreciated.

From 1 to 3 pm., special guest Paul Ortega will
delight the audience with a variety of stories, '
songs and music. The Native American artist
has always been a popular presenter with a
special message. Be sure not to miss his
presentation!
ROYALIY PAGEANT
from 3p.m. to 5 pm., sit back, relax and
enjoy the selection of our new Miss Grand
Ronde and Jr. Miss Grand Ronde. Special
presentations before a respected panel of
judges will help select those young girls who
will reign and represent the Confederated
Tribes of Grand Ronde for the next year. Come
and give the girls your support!

Beginning at 5:00p.m., the fribe's 4th annual
Pow Fow will get underway. The evening will
begin with Grand Entry, a procession of the
dancers and American, Oregon and 'Indian flags.
Following the Grand Entry will be a flag song .
and prayer. After that, it social, fancy and
tradit'ona) 'dancing for rest of the evening.

At 8:00p.m., the prize winners will be an
nounced for the annual raffle. The major prize
this year is a microwave oven and stand;
pendleton blanket, a $100 gift certificate from
the Grand Ronde Shopping Center and much,
much more. Be sure to buy your tickets for
one dollar.
TRIBAL LOGO ITEMS FOR SALE
The Grand Ronde Tribal logo jackets, t-shifts,
bumper stickers, decals and hats will be on
sale. Be sure to buy yours before the supply
runs out. The money from the sales goes to
help pay pow wow expenses.
