ENROLLMENT REPORT Dear Fellow Tribal Members and Friends, I have just mailed our newest members their enroll ment numbers. Our tribal membership now totals 2190. Congratulations to all of our new members! I attended an enrollment training workshop in Seattle, Washington, Aug. 24-28. During this week, I learned how to Implement an improved filing system. I also was trained In documentation regulations pertaining to blood quantum change requests and paternity cases. I will have more Information in future newsletter articles. During the Pow-Wow, over 50 1.D. cards were issued. It was a hot and busy day. I thank my clients for their patience. AFTER NOVEMBER 1, THE I.D. CARDS WILL BE ISSUED ONLY TWO DAYS A MONTH. Watch for the November schedule in the next Issue of "Smoke Sig nals". Through October, the enrollment office will issue the I.D. cards on Thursdays and Friday. The hours are from 9 a.m. to 12 noon; 1 pan. to 4 p.m. PLEASE CALL AHEAD!!! I have been receiving some training, and it is no longer a guarantee that an issuing officer will be available. After November 1, 1 will not keep incomplete applica tions for a period of longer than four weeks. I need the room for enrolled members files, as there are not over 200 Incomplete files. The Drawing for the general season deer and elk tags is September 17, 1987. Remember to have your tag applications submitted by 5:00 p jn. on Sept 17th. Any tags received after 5:00 pan. will not be eligible for the drawing which will take place at 6 JO p.m. at the Depot Office. Successful applicants can pick their tags up following the drawing. HUNTER SAFETY COURSE It was hoped a hunter safety course could be taught this fall, but because of a busy schedule, this is not possible. However, a course is being taught at the VFW hall in Willamina. The class is tentatively scheduled to run from September 14 -18 and last for two hours each evening. Interested youth, ages 12 to 18, call Greg for further information. SUBSISTENCE SALMON DISTRIBUTION The tribe is scheduled to receive another 2000 pounds of subsistence salmon by September 12th. If the fish are available, they will be distributed on September 12 (election day) from 9 a jn. to 6 pan. If fish remain, they will be distributed on September 13,(General Council meeting) from 2 to 3 pan only. DUTIES: Maintain, balance and reconcile Contract Health Service account records. Prepare Contract Health Service statements and reports. -Maintain various types of records requiring accuracy In selecting, posting and consolidating pertinent data. Making mathematical compuatation, applying formu las or conversion tables. Coding, compiling or verifying statistical data. -Screening various types of documents to verify the accuracy of codes, amounts or similar data In numeric form against related documents or guides. -Operating a computer and adding machine. -Report deposits of funds to appropriate journals and subsidary ledgers. Maintain computerized obligations register and payment register. QUALIFICATIONS: TribalIndian preference. -High School graduate or equivalent Previous bookkeeping experience, a minimum of two years experience. -Computerized accounting experience helpful. -Some knowledge of computers necessary. -Able to operate an adding machine by touch. . Maintain Contract Health Service charts. Send late notices to providers who have not returned authorizations. Provide supportive services to supervisor, -schedule medical and dental appointments with the providers. Maintain an Obligation Log, Outstanding Log and a Hospital Log. Must maintain and update an accurate filing system. Verifying appointments, appropriate health services and payment of services. Insure maximum use of alternate resources. Maintain active Indian Health Service patient registration forms. -Insure that all eligible Grand Ronde members are educated on the Indian Health Service's available services and procedures In obtaining patient care. -Provide supportive services to the Contract Health Service program. . -Assist patients in applying for alternate re sources. Develop patient registration system that allows for notification for renewal of registration in a timely manner. Maintenance of the patient registration system Coordinate the tribal patient registration with the Western Oregon Service Unit , -Secure and maintain current alternate resources Information. Other activities as related to the Contract Health Program. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of two years of bookkeeping experience, ability to operate an adding machine by touch, com puter experience helpful, a minimum of one year's work with a variety of persons and agencies in a positive manner. Must be dependable, three references re quired, a typing test will be required and must have own transportation.
