Career Fair on April 14 & 15. 1987. The conference will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the LaSells Stuart Center at OSU. The Fair will' include informa tion on various careers, appren ticeships, colleges, and jobs of the future. There will be tours of the OSU Campus, handouts, display tables and advice from elders. Bonnie Jo Hunt, internationally acclaimed Indian singer, will perform in concert on the eve ning of April 14th. along with selected high school students. The registration fee is $12.00 per student. Native American artists of every tribe, and in all fields of tra ditional and contemporary Indian art are invited to participate in the Fair. The convention will include in formation on creating curricu lum, special teacher strand workshops, and updates on the latest national and local Indian Education issues. HEALTH CAREER SCHOLARSHIPS The Indian Health Service (IHS), Department Of Health and Human. Services, is now accepting ap plications for the fiscal year (FY) 1987 scholarship cycle for three scholarship programs au thorized by the Indian Health Care Improvement Act. Awards made during this cyclewill be for funding in the 1987-88 school year. This will be the only scholarship cycle in FY 1987 for the following programs. A) HEALTH PROFESSIONS PREPARA TORY SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM This program provides financial assistance for Indian students only to enroll in courses that will prepare them for acceptance into health professsions schools. Courses may be either compensatory (required to im prove science, mathematics, or other basic skills and knowl edge) or preprof essional (re quired in order to qualify for admission into a health profes sions program ) . In order for an applicant to be considered for funding during the FY 1987 scholarship cycle, heshe must be accepted by and or enrolled in a program begin ning in Fall 1987 for the single priority career category of Prenursing or Preaccount 1 ng . B) HEALTH PROFESSIONS PREGRADU ATE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM This Program provides financial support for Indian students only to enroll in courses leading to a baccalaureate degree in spe cific preprof essional areas. For the 1987 scholarship cycle, an applicant must be accepted by andor enrolled in a program beginning in Fall 1987 for the priority career categories of: Premedicine--JuniorSenior level only Predentistry--Juni orSenior level only C) HEALTH PROFESSIONS SCHOLAR SHIP PROGRAM This program provides fi nancial assistance to students enrolled in health professions and allied health professions programs. There are service obligation and payback require ments that the recipient incurs upon acceptance of the scholar ship funding. . An applicant must be accepted by andor enrolled in a program beginning in Fall 1987 for one of the following priority career categories: Dentistry, Engineering, Health Records, Medicine, Nurs ing, Accounting, Pharmacy, Pub lic Health (MPH), Dietitian Nutritionist, Sanitarian, Medi cal Technologist (BS degreee) , Health Care Administration (MS or MA Degree), Statistician (BS or MA degree), Dental Hygiene, Health Education, Chemical De pendency Counseling.
