SOCIAL SERVICE WEATHERIZATION PROGRAM The Energy Program located J.n Salem currently has limited funds that may be available to Native Americans residing within the Marion and Polk County areas for the purpose of weatherization of homes. Eligibility for free federal weatherization is based on household size and income. When your eligibility has been determined, your name will be placed on a list. Priority is given to over 60, handicapped, and those with children under 6. The Energy Program will contact you when your name has been chosen from the list. There is NO COST TO THE HOME-OWNER OR RENTER. All materials and labor are FREE OF CHARGE. The following is a brief description of the services that can be done: 1. AIR-INFILTRATION 5. STORM WINDOWS 2. CEILING INSULATION 6. WRAP WATER HEATER 3. FLOOR INSULATION 7. DUCT INSULATION 4. WALL INSULATION 8. TRIBAL VETERANS The National Congress of American Indians Fund is conducting a new program, the Indian and Native Veterans Outreach Program (INVOP). The goals of INVOP are to provide help to Native Veterans to gain employment and provide technical assistance to those who wish to start their own businesses. The INVOP has sent us a questionaire to be filled out by Tribal Veterans. If you are interested please write us and a questionaire will be sent to you as soon as possible. If you are a Veteran who served in the Armed Forces (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines or Coast Guard) in WWI, WWII, Korea or Viet Nam or served at least 180 consecutive days during peace time, contact Don Hudson at (503) 879-5253 or write to Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde, P.O. LOW-INCOME ENERGY ASSISTANCE On December 10, 1986 Ann Bond will be scheduled to do intakes on clients who wish to apply for Low-Income Energy Assistance through the Dallas Referral Center. This program only servespeople who reside in Polk County. Clients will have to provide income documentation and pgff of residency within Polk County. Please note the list of documentation you will need to provide for your intake, this is to help expedite the process. The intakes will be taken at the Tribal Depot from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on December 10, 1986. Here is a list of future dates for intakes in the Tribal Depot: December 17, 1986 January 21, 1987 January 7, 1987 February 4, 1987 January 14, 1987 (optional) February 18, 1987 Remember, if you have any questions or would like to set up an appointment call Don Hudson at 879-5253. First priority will be given to persons with an appointment but valk-ins will be accepted if time allows. First priority will also be given to the Elderly.
