Notes from the Chairman
I wish to report to you the Tribal Council's progress on the
Reservation Plan so'far. Last month, the B I A requested a draft
legislation copy for the B I A in the Central Office in Washington
D.C.for their review.

April 3rd Council members Merle Leno.
Kathryn Harrison, and I met with John
Rodasta, Mel Chase, and Ed Lewis of BLM to see
if a copy of the draft legislation language as
suitable for them.
April 11th and 16th the Tribal Council met
with local timber and lumber companies, to
address their concerns about our proposed
Reservation Plan. Some of their concerns are
the export issue, and management aspects of
the Reservation iand. At both these meetings
were Will Bowker, Ken Lathrop. and Gary Varner
of the BIA. Paul Ehinger Jr. of Cooper's
Consultants was present also. These people were
very helpful in assisting the Tribal Council in
answering the Tiftber Companies questions
concerning the proposed Reservation land base.
In the early part of April. Merlewfno, Kathryn Harrison and I met
with the Polk and Yamhill County Commissioners to keep them posted
on our progress of the Reservation Plan, As our Restoration Act
specified, the Tribal Council must consult with at least 3 affected
