    General Manager's Report
The Tribal Council has authorized the General Manager to develop and submit a proposal
to the Housing and Urban Development Agency (HUD). The proposal is for the construction
of a 4000 sq.ft. Social Services facility (sketch shown below) to be placed. near
the Depot. The Grand Ronde Proposal (for $250,000) must compete for funding with
all other Tribes in the Northwest (33 Tribes in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho),
but we are optimistic that our proposal will receive favorable reviews. If funded,
construction could begin as early as mid-August or September of 1985.

I met with our Consultant, Dean Richardson in Portland on December 4, 1984 to discuss
all of the final details of our claim before we send it to the government. We hope
to have a response from the government soon after the first of the year.
Details of the statement of our claim will be provided in the next Smoke Signals
issue. ,
