Emlpoyment: Confederated Tribes Warm Springs Indian Reservation
Supervisor: Tribal Family & Children's Services
Responsibilities: developed a comprehensive family and children's services
program from the ground up. Developed policy guidelines personnel qualifications
and duties, supervised a staff of 15 professional and para-professionals,
administered budgeting finance of $250,000.00 annually, was responsible for
payroll, was instrumental in getting the Indian Child Welfare Act developed
and passed, was representative ofr WArm Springs Confederated Tribe in Child
Welfare matters and other social services matters, trainer for other tribes
in developing foster care guidelines and how to recruit for appropriate
personnel and ensuring and preserving the unique rights on Indian people.
1980-1984
Burns Paiute Tribe- Director of Education, Alcohol Program Contract Health
Program, IHS, and other Social Services Programs. Responsibilities: supervise
staff of above programs, writing of proposals for grants, administering
the programs, developing budgets and maintaining contracts and budget comp
liance, providing in-service training for staff and Tribal committees, eval
uating program and staff performance, advocating for the rights of Indian
people with other agencies, insuring quality assurance in record keeping,
developing policy guidelines for the respective programs, and assisting the
Tribein asserting self-determination and self-government.
