A, MERCIER FAMILY REUNION The 4th Annual Mercier Family & Friends Reunion will be held August 1, 2, 3. The event will be a 3 day camp out at Cyrstal and Richard Thomas ' , about 6 mi . west of Grand Ronde, Hwy 22 (Hebo Hwy.). " END OF SEASON PICNIC A picnic to close the baseballsof tball season for Grand Ronde will take -place Saturday, August 16 at Mill Creek Park. The picnic will combine the boys' baseball and two girls sof tball team members and families, and will begin at 12:30 p.m.. Everyone is invited to come help the kids cel ebrate the end of a hectic but really enjoyable season. The boys finished second in league this year. Although they didn't place, the girls gained a lot of experience that will help for next years' competition. The two girls teams were sponsored by local business, the Corridor Cafe and Grand Ronde Shopping Center. Coaches for the two teams were: Corridor - Carmen Haug and Jess Robertson; Grand Ronde Shopping Center - Claudette Morris. THANKS TO TRIBAL MEMBERS FOR JULY 4TH PARTICIPATION As some of you know, two of our tribal members participated in Willamina's 4th of July parade as Grand Marshalls. Those two were Agnes Mercier and Esther LaEonte. Nick Leno was also scheduled to ride in the parade but was unable to make it due to an illness. We all wish him a quick recovery. On behalf of myself and other Council Members, I would like to say thank you and extend our appreciation for their participation. I would also like to take this opportunity to urge everyone to come to our next breakfast and meeting at St. Michael's. We have a lot of important matter coming up for discussion so come and listen and express your views. Hope to see you. there! Marline Groshong Tribal Council We were saddened at the news of the recent deaths of Don Voutrin and Richard "Bud" McGee. Services for Don were held Monday, July 21 at Sr.. Joseph's Catholic Church in Salem. Don was buried at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland. Services for Bud were held Friday, July 25 at Barricks Funeral Home in Salem with internment at the Holmes Cemetery in Grand Ronde. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of Don and Bud.
