    Warm Springs Baseball Clinic
The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde baseball team traveled
to Warm Springs June 22, 23 & 24, with high hopes that their abil
ity to retain their perfect record league record would go with them.
After losing the first game 23-1, they realized someone had forgot
to pack their "special magic" used here at home to win game after
game. Warm Springs went on to win the next 3 games with scores of
7-4, 12-8, & 20-3. Team members benefitting from the clinic games
were: Clayton Sump, Doug Colton, Mike Colton, Pat Hill, Dennis
Van Dyke, Tim Ogden, Gregg Leno, Jeff Cutts, Lenny Logan, Robbie
Lambert & Damin Smith. Kim Smith, Jodi Givens & Bob Yates went
along to help out "coach Doug Colton and assistant coach' Merle Lefto
When asked to comment on the games, Coach Colton could offer no
excuses "they were 1 teams and played the way 1 teams play; to
win."
The team would like to take this opportunity to thank coach
"Satch" DeLano for acquiring special permission for his teams to .
play ours. According to sanctioned little league rules, Satch had
to request permission from the commission to play a non-sanctioned
team.
Special thanks is also extended to Biff & Louise Langley of
Warm Springs, who were kind enough to open their home (and refrig
erator) to the team. The afternoon spent at their house helped
the' boys through one of the hottest days we had while at Warm Springs
Besides the team & helpers going, also along were Bob & Helen
Rose, Ellie, Duane Sump, Gloria Smith, Jackie Colton, Claudia &
Michelle Leno, Velma Mercier, Dean Mercier, Pat Gray, Elaine &
Wayne Thomas, Jerry & Dennis Noyes, Kelly Mercier, Pat Butler,
Pris cilia, Patricia, & Shawn Carl.
The trip was financed through a lot of hard work on the part
of the baseball team, coaches & parents, and the generosity of
those community members donating bottles & money to the boys.
The guys also had a car wash. All together about $200.00 was
raised for the trip. Thanks everyone!
