OUTREACH FOR SENIORS This month has been very quiet for Outreach.
We would like to hear from those who feel that
the food stamps they now receive are not
adequate (remembering that the cash you formerly spent on food stamps is sup
posed to be spent on food) . A group has been formed to work toward a formal
protest for the way the food stamps are being handled by the federal government,
especially the new way eligibility is to be figured. By June 30 (July 1) they
would like all complaints turned into a central point, for forwarding to their
group. Call the office here, 879-5253, if you want help in voicing your com
plaint. Or, write a statement of your complaint and address it to the Tribal
Council. You do not have to live within the Grand Ronde area for this protest.
Testimony is being solicited through different agencies throughout the State
and other parts of the country.
GLEANING .Application forms for this program are avail
able in the Tribal Office, in the Outreach
section located at 9235 Grand Ronde Rd, Grand
Ronde Cemetery. The only cost involved is the gas going to the source of the
produce and the coming back. You should also plan on gathering some cardboard
boxes, or other means of carrying produce back home. At this time strawberries
will be the first product available.
TRANSPORTATION FOR SENIORS This program is operating at full force. Our
drivers and escorts are ready and willing to
take you wherever you need to go doctors,
dentists, grocery shopping, other shopping. We are trying to make sure that we
have a full passenger load whenever the car goes, so you may be called about
scheduling your trips when others are already scheduled. Your donations are
helping, keep them coming? We need this extra help for the program.
YOUR CEMETERY NEEDS HELP We are buying back the land in front of the
cemetery, from its' present site up to the
county road. This purchase will insure burial
sites for years to come.
The Confederate Tribes of Grand Ronde have agreed to purchase this land and have
made the down payment. Now we need your help to meet the monthly payments.
This can be done by monthly or yearly donations by individuals or organizations.
Any amount you can contribute will be greatly appreciated. You can send your
contribution to The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde, P.O. Box 94, Grand
Ronde, Oregon 97347. Remember all contributions are tax deductible! THANK
YOU FOR YOUR HELP, The Tribal Council.
