Community notes... The first day of school for first- through eighth- grades at the Warm Springs Academy is Tuesday, Septem- ber 5. Kindergarten family conferences will also be on September 5. The first day of school for half of the kindergarten stu- dents will be on Wednesday, September 6; and the other half will start the following day. So all kindergarten stu- dents will be in school together starting on Friday, September 8. Parents and guardians will find out at the conferences when your student’s first day is. At Jefferson County Middle School, September 5 is the first day for sixth-grad- ers. Seventh- and eight-grade students will start on Wednes- day, September 6. The first day of school at Bridges High School will be on Wednesday, September 6. And at Madras High School, the first day of school for ninth-grade students will be Tuesday, September 5. And the first day for tenth- through twelfth-grades will be Wednesday, September 6. Elsewhere: Mount Hood Ski Bowl is offering free lift rides for Warm Springs tribal members who are interested in check- ing out the huckleberries at Ski Bowl. All you need to do is show your tribal ID at the guest services ticket office, and you will receive a wrist- band pass. A reservation-wide burn ban has been issued until fur- ther notice. The War m Springs Reservation is in ‘Ex- treme’ fire danger conditions. All outside agricultural and residential burning, and out- door camp fires are prohib- ited. Ceremonial and tradi- tional fires are exempt, but Fire Management urges pre- vention considerations before burning. The Madras High School Class of 1968 will have its Fifty- Fifth Year Reunion on Friday, September 8 from 5-10 p.m. at the Desert Inn Bar & Grill in Metolius.
