For the water system Chico
oversees a staff of three field
workers, and three treatment plant
workers. All are to be com-
mended for their dedication to
safe drinking water delivery to
the memberhip and other resi-
dents, the Academy and Early
Childhood Center, the clinic, lo-
cal businesses and tribal offices.
The recent OAWU award is a
testament to the accomplishments
of the past few years; though Mr.
Holliday points out there is a lot of
work yet to do, with the largest single
project—a new treatment plant to
replace the current one—currently
in the planning and funding phase.
The Kah-Nee-Ta lagoons are
another big project for Utilities and
the tribes, as the new Kah-Nee-
Ta Resort & Spa will be opening
in the coming months.

As explained during the
2023 tribal budget meetings
last year, the turbine valves
replacement project is one of
the more expensive capital
improvements at the dams.
The new valves, though, will
last for several decades, Ms.
Ehli said. Another large project
coming up this year will be
improvements
to
the
anadramous fish reintroduc-
tion facilities at the dams.
The Confederated Tribes
are co-owners and operators
of the hydro-system with part-
ner Portland General Electric.

Springs Recreation Center Social
