2023 Lincoln’s Birthday Powwow Royalty Candidates

Hello,
My given name is
Shmalane, most know me
as ChaCha, and Jaihline
Ramirez is my birth name.
I am running for this
year’s Lincoln’s Birthday
Powwow royalty coming up
in Simnasho. The powwow
will be Friday through Sun-
day, February 10-12.
Please support the pow-
wow and myself by buying
raffle tickets and spreading
the word.
Raffle tickets are $1 each
or six tickets for $5, and we
will accept cash or cash app.
We are selling tickets from
now until the drawing on the
February 12.
I am a freshman at Mt.
Hood Community College,
majoring in psychology. I
am also a social justice ad-
vocate, and activity plan-
ner for the school.
We are hoping to bring
back the Mt. Hood Com-
munity College Powwow
this year. I also play for the
women’s basketball team.
My future plans include
becoming a Drug and Addic-
tions Counselor, and an ad-
vocate for the youth in my
community.
My hobbies include bead-
become a hair stylist, as well
as eventually own my own
thriving salon!
I’d like to thank everyone
for the opportunity with this
year’s Lincoln’s Powwow, as
I’ve enjoyed my reign previ-
ously as the 2020 Little Miss
Warm Springs. The connec-
tions and friendships I’ve
made along the way truly are
wonderful, and I hope to
continue the experience this
summer representing the
2023 Lincoln’s Powwow!

Hello family and friends!
My name is Jaliyah
George, and I am 18 years
old. I am currently enrolled
for my senior year at Ma-
dras High School. I am on
track to graduate early this
coming February.
I grew up wanting to get
to know our traditional
ways. Since a young age I’ve
attended everything I could
at the longhouse with my
grandmother

I am currently working
part-time as a barista at Mid-
town Coffee in Madras, and
enjoy working my way up
and creating relationships
with the customers as well
as my coworkers.
My plans after high
school are to go to school to

Fences for Fido will have
another distemper and
parvo vaccine clinic for dogs
on Saturday, February 11.
Hours will be from 10 a.m.
to 1 p.m. at the Agency
Fire Station. Shots and
boosters will be available.
Young puppies need a
series of three vaccines to
be protected, and adult
dogs need an annual
booster. This is open to
Warm Springs residents.

in volleyball, track and
Cross Country. After I fin-
ish school I plan to attend a
university.

Kiahna Allen ~
Kiahna Allen is a member of the Confederated
Tribes of Warm Springs, and also shares the heritage
of the San Carlos Apache. Kiahna is a sophomore
athlete at Madras High School, and is an involved
community member and active advocate.
She is working for the opportunity to represent
the community as the Lincoln’s Powwow Queen. She
is around the community as much as possible, and
would appreciate the opportunity to gain your sup-
port for the powwow. Raffle tickets are $1 each or
six for $5.
