The Highway 26 Safety Corri-
dor project has just about wrapped
up. Some of the final work is
happenning this week, such as by
the casino (below); and along the
highway west of the Kah-Nee-Ta
Highway junction (above and at
right). The $6.5 million project
took nine months. The pedestrian

walkway is a most welcome addi-
tion to the corridor, as are the traf-
fic safety features and new pav-
ing.
School district bond oversight
committee accepting applications
The Jefferson County School
District 509-J is planning for the
programs as approved in the re-
cent $24 million bond measure.
The November measure also quali-
fies the district for an additional $4
million in state matchings funds.
The district is now accepting ap-
plications for positions on the Bond
Oversight Committee. This will be
an independent, community-based
advisory committee with the charge
to monitor the planned improve-
ments, costs, schedule, and progress
of the bond program.
Spilyay
The committee will meet quar-
terly or as needed to review bond
funded projects and offer advice
and recommendations to the
school board.
The oversight committee will be
composed of between seven and
11 members, to be appointed by
the board chair and approved by
the board. Members should have
experience in finance, auditing,
public budgeting, banking and gen-
eral business. If you are interested,
you can submit an application at
the district website: jcsd.k12.or.us
Warm Springs Recreation is
hosting its covid-safe holiday activi-
ties for the community.
This Wednesday evening, De-
cember 1, will be the annual Christ-
mas Tree Lighting in front of the
Community Center.
This Friday, December 3 will be
the Holiday Outdoor Market in
the front yard of the Community
Center.
And then next Thursday, Decem-
ber 9 will be the Car Lights Pa-
rade. The parade starts at 6 p.m.,
going from the campus to the Com-
munity Center.
All of these will happen in step
with the covid safety protocols,
masking and distancing.
