Papalaxsimisha is hosting a
five-week youth Boys Drum-
ming and Singing series, be-
ginning this Wednesday, Septem-
ber 8. The sessions will be held
Wednesdays from 6-7:30 p.m. on
The Confederated Tribes Covid-19 Response Team updated the
reservation community Covid-19 data, as of September 1, 2021.
On that date there were 16 active cases in the community,
bringing the overall total since the pandemic began last year to
936.
There were two community members hospitalized with covid on
September 1, according to the update. One person had died.
Fourteen of the cases were among people with an underlying
condition. Total breakthrough cases was 29. (Note: The
incidence of breakthrough cases demonstrates the vaccine is
working, in that vaccinated breakthrough cases are much less
likely to result in serious illness, hospitalization, and death.)
One case of the delta variant was reported in the September 1
data (more demographics on page 5).
IHS Indian Country covid data
The Indian Health Service
updated its coronavirus data,
showing results through late last
week.
As of that date across In-
dian Country, IHS testing had
returned a total of 232,855
positive tests for covid, since
the pandemic and testing be-
gan.
Since testing began last
year, IHS had conducted a
total
of
2,856,618
coronavirus tests.
Based on the cumulative per-
cent positive, the highest rates
have been the IHS Navajo
Area, the Phoenix Area, the
Oklahoma City Area, the Cali-
fornia Area, and the
Albuqueque Area.
