Spilyay Tymoo, Warm Springs, Oregon November 4, 2020 2 qualifers for Junior World Finals C ongratulations to local young rodeo riders Isaiah Florendo and Siddalee Spino-Suppah. Both have qualified for the 2020 World Finals competition. Isaiah, 13, qualified in the Senior Bareback division of the Junior World Finals, com- ing up in December in Fort Worth, Texas. Isaiah is a two- time qualifier. Siddalee Spino-Suppah is a three-time qualifier in the Junior World Finals. In 2018 she qualified in the Peewee Bareback divi- sion, and in 2019 in Peewee Saddle Bronc. This year she finished out as one of the top five in the world in the Junior Saddle Bronc division, qualifying for the Junior World Finals. This October, Siddalee won in the Junior Saddle Bronc competition in Lakeview. She is still riding for the Page 9 Memorial shirts for sale held to help raise entry fees or travel funds for the con- testants, and will feature them doing what they love. Resource assessment of reservation fires Tribal Council has ap- proved the Emergency Lionshead Salvage Project Assessment. The action provides a bal- anced approach to the har- vesting of dead and dying trees, and protect resources within the Lionshead and P- 515 fire areas. The Lionshead fire burned 96,226 acres on the Warm Springs Reservation, and the salvage area is 24,432 acres. Copies of the document are available for the tribal membership at the adminis- tration building, the Post Office, and the Branch of Natural Resources office. The decision by Council included the recommenda- tions from the Cultural and Heritage Committee, ad- dressing the need for fire- wood for tribal elders. Other matters being ad- dressed are access to medici- nal plants, especially those useful for respiratory sys- tems assisting with Covid-19; and ways to control compet- ing brush that could interfere with the growth of huckle- berries.
