Page 8 Spilyay Tymoo, Warm Springs, Oregon August 12, 2020 IHS updates Covid-19 numbers SPECIALS The Indian Health Service has updated its coronavirus data, showing results as of August 9. According to the data, 35,631 tests have re- turned positive for Covid-19. That represents an increase of 0.78 percent from the 35,355 cases previously re- ported. Altogether, 537,762 coronavirus tests have been administered through August 9, the data shows. That marks an increase of 0.55 percent from the day prior. The low growth rates are typical of lulls in data seen during weekends. But since July 21, there has been a slow- down in coronavirus activity within the IHS. Overall, 6.6 percent of IHS coronavirus tests have returned positive, according to the data. But the rate is far higher in the Phoenix Area, where almost 17.1 per- cent are positive. Next is the Navajo Area, which serves the largest res- ervation in the United States. But even with about 15.1 per- cent of tests returning posi- tive, the rate has fallen steadily over the last month, follow- ing a noticeable decline as the region with the highest rate. The Nashville Area, which covers a wide area of Indian Country, including the South and Northeastern parts of the U.S., also continues to show a high positive rate of 8.9 percent. On the other end of the spectrum, aggressive efforts in the Alaska Area are turn- ing up very few cases. Out of 106,659 tests administered in Alaska, only 0.65 percent have returned positive, the data shows. The Alaska Area also out- numbers every other area— including Navajo— in terms of tests administered. The Oklahoma City Area has fallen back to the second spot. The data, however, is in- complete. While 100 percent of facilities run directly by the IHS are reporting data, 866-299-0644 only 33 percent of tribally managed facilities and 44 percent of urban Indian or- ganizations are doing the same. The service population for 2019 is 2,562,290. Based on that figure, about 21 percent of American In- dians and Alaska Natives have been tested for the coronavirus since the IHS began reporting data in March. 2012 Chevy Tahoe - 181,293 miles - $16,995 #C0128A 1998 Chevy Suburban - 253,307 miles - $5,995 #56753A 2011 Ford Explorer - miles - 127,326 2010 F- 150 - 158,344 miles - 14,995 $13,995 #18618C #42982C 2014 Chrysler Town & Country - 151,754 miles - $9,995 #40318A 2012 Jeep Wrangler - 93,966 miles - $28,995 #01290B 2016 Dodge Journey - 80,421 miles - 2016 Toyota Tacoma - 71,220 miles - $18,995 $22,995 #37199A #87230B 2018 Toyota Highlander - 20,477 miles - 2017 Chevy Silverado - 100,960 miles - $37,995 $29,475 #96815A #23157A 2018 Nissan Sentra - 28,919 miles - 2019 Buick Envision - 14,798 miles - $17,995 $32,995 #49627A #37596A
