Alumna
of Merit
B asket weaver Patricia
Courtney Gold is a master of
the traditional Wasco full-
turn twining technique.
Before her celebrated ca-
reer as a basket and fiber
artist, Ms. Courtney Gold
was a mathematician.
She studied Mathematics
and Physics at Whitman Col-
lege, Class of 1961.
She worked in mathemat-
ics, and as a computer spe-
cialist, before dedicating her
life to traditional plateau bas-
ketry.
Whitman College has rec-
ognized Patricia with the
2018 Alumna of Merit
Award.
The award is in recogni-
tion “for distinction in her
chosen field, and outstanding
service to her community.”

ebrating the Week of the Young Child. Early Child-
hood will host a parade this Thursday, April 11 start-
ing at 10 a.m. in front of the ECE building.

Country Quilters of
Jefferson County will have
their Fourteenth Biennial
Quilt Show this Saturday,
April 13 from noon to 5
p.m.; and Saturday, April 14
from 1-3 p.m.
The show is at the
Jefferson County Fair-
grounds. All quilters are
welcome. Admission is
free, donations accepted.

Victim impact panel meetings
A victim impact panel will be meeting in Warm Springs
one time each month through 2019.
The meetings are on the fourth Tuesday of the month
at the Warm Springs Baptist Church, 2230 Elliot Heights
Rd., Warm Springs. The next meeting will be on April
23. For the impact panels in June and December, the
meetings will be June 11 and December 17.
Community members are welcome to attend and lis-
ten. Hosted by the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs,
and the Meth and Opioid Work Group.
