The Washanaksha Cul- tural Coalition, sponsored by the Oregon Cultural Trust and the Museum at Warm Springs, provides funding in support of tribal arts and heritage. The Washanaksha board supports projects and ac- tivities that address one of the following four priorities, as outlined in the program plan: Promote tribal members and residents’ understanding of and involvement in cul- tural activities, traditions, arts, language, dance, history, music, etc. Pass on tribal knowledge and practices to youth, and help them feel connected to their culture. Preserve, practice and teach tribal languages: Ichishkeen, Kiksht and Numu. Support the work of tribal artists and traditional teachers, including their abil- ity to earn a living from their work. Applications will be ac- cepted from members of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs; organiza- tions, programs and com- mittees of the tribes; and residents of the reserva- tion. Grants to tribal mem- bers who reside on the res- er vation are considered first. Any remaining fund- ing will be awarded to ap- plicants from the other eli- gible groups. Prior grant recipients must submit all reports re- quired by the Washanaksha Cultural Coalition before applying for this year’s grant. Projects must be com- pleted in seven months: Completion date is Friday, September 6, 2019. Applications will be ac- cepted through Monday, February 11.
