Root Feast, Open Ranch rodeos
Rodeo action is coming up in
May in Warm Springs, with the
Root Feast Kids Rodeo and Open
Ranch Rodeo. The weekend, May
5-6, will also feature a Professional
Wild Horse Race.
The kids rodeo is on Saturday,
May 5 at 1 p.m. at the Warm
Springs Rodeo grounds. This is for
youth ages 0-17.
The Open Ranch Rodeo and
Professional Wild Horse Race are
on Sunday, May 6. Both the kids
and the Open Ranch rodeos start
at 1 p.m.
Call-ins for both days are by
5:30 p.m. this Wednesday, April 25.
Call Cheryl Tom, rodeo secretary,
at 541-460-1354. Same day en-
tries are from 9-10 a.m. on May
5, and 9-1 a.m. on May 6. Satur-
day events include:
Sheep riding (6 and under), mini
buckers—bareback and saddle
bronc (entry fee $20), calf riding
(7-12 years) cow riding (13-17
years), novice—Ranch bronc
riding, bareback and bronc riding,
barrel racing (6 and under, 7-12
and 13-17), flag race (divisions
same as barrels), horseless roping
(12 and under), calf scramble (12
and under), stick horse race (5 and
under), wild colt race (two divi-
sions: 12 and under, 13-17 years,
entry fee $30 per team).
Unless indicated entry fee is $10
per event.
Sunday, Ranch Rodeo events:
Bucking horse riding (team chooses
bareback or saddle bronc), team
branding, team doctoring, and res-
cue race.
The Wild Horse Race is sanc-
tioned with the Professional Wild
Horse Race Assocation. There will
also be a Wild Colt Race (second
go). Entry fees on Sunday are
$300 per three man team.
Admission to the public on Sat-
urday, May 5 is $3. Children un-
der 5 and senior citizens are free.
Admission on Sunday is $5. Chil-
dren under 5 and senior citizens
free.
The rodeos are sponsored by
the Warm Springs Rodeo Associa-
tion. Entry fees must be paid in
cash, and payouts will be in cash.
The Warm Springs Rodeo As-
sociation is not responsible for the
following but not limited to: acci-
dents, damage to persons, personal
property, equipment, vehicles or
trailers.

field meet are

They are both
eighth
graders.
Competition
also include
the javelin,
shot put and
discus. The
Eagles have
a meet at
Pacific
Coast-Bend
on Thursday,
May 3.
Lil’ Tigerz, ICE win
24th Cougars tourney
Madras High School softball
players this spring include

The team plays at home this
Wednesday afternoon, April
25, against Crook County.
They play away at Crook on
Friday. They play away on
April 30 at Molalla, and on
May 2 at Estacada. The girls
are back at home on May 4
vs. Gladstone.

The Lil’ Tigerz of Warm Springs
won the Twenty-Fourth Annual
Cougars 10-and-Under Co-ed
Tournament, and ICE of
Lakeport, California, won the high
school boys division.
Runner-up in the 10-and-under
division was NW Hoopers of
Warm Springs. Finalists were the
Stormtroopers of White Swan, and
the Lil’ Bucks of Warm Springs.
Runner-up in the high school
boys division was TPU of Warm
Springs, and finalists were Medi-
cine Society of Warm Springs, and
Chiloquin.
The MVP in the high school di-
vision was Darius Ford of ICE.
Mr. Hustle was Rod Lupreceo of
Ice. Kanim Smith of TUP was Mr.
Rebounder. Darius Ford also won
the Beyond the Arc category with
19; and Kanim Smith and Darius
Ford were the High Scorers. The
