Senator, Congressman plan visits
Congressman
Greg
Walden and U.S. Senator
Jeff Merkley are planning
to visit Warm Springs next
week.
Congressman Walden is
on the Tribal Council
agenda for Tuesday, March
3. A main topic of discus-
sion during his visit to Warm
Springs is the opiate epi-
demic, according to the
Council agenda for April.
The next day, Wednesday,
April 4, Sen. Merkley is plan-
ning Town Hall meetings at
IHS and at the War m
Springs Academy, the Coun-
cil agenda says.

April agenda, approved by
Tribal Council earlier this
week (subject to change at
Council discretion):
A discussion of the
tribes’ cannabis project with
the elder council, January-
February financial update
with Finance, and discussion
of the Honoring Veterans
Powwow with Preston
Meanus.
These items are sched-
uled for Monday, April 9.
Some other items:
Tribal vehicle pool policy
update, and the capital im-
provement plan, both with
the chief operations officer.
Report: Sea lions now in tributaries
Sea lions are beginning to
move into even smaller
Northwest river tributaries
where they had never been
seen before, according to
Oregon wildlife managers.
In these tributaries the sea
lions are threatening some of
the healthiest stocks of the
salmon and steelhead fish.
The sea lions have also
been spotted in small rivers

New and current college
students can apply for 2018-
19 funding. Early bird appli-
cations submitted by May 1
will receive a college package.
