Ume-Sha time Fire Man- agement initiates 24-hour coverage. Use of drones Last year, the Western U.S. experienced one of its worst wildfire season in years. An area the size of Delaware burned within California alone. Those fires, along with a trio of devastating hurri- canes that hit the opposite coast, made 2017 the cost- liest year on record for natu- ral disasters in U.S. history. In response, the federal government relied on un- manned aircrafts, which are increasingly cheaper to buy and deploy, more than ever to aid the efforts of firefighters on the ground. Meanwhile in Congress, lawmakers are frozen in a political stalemate over how to fix a system for funding firefighting efforts that both parties agree is broken. Last year, Interior, which leads interagency efforts on unmanned aircrafts outside the Pentagon, flew 707 drone missions on 71 wild- fires. In total, the department conducted nearly 5,000 flights altogether for various purposes, including drawing maps, surveying wildlife and conducting search-and-res- cue missions. 2016 Hyundai Tucson- 11,750 miles - 2015 Chevy Spark- 29,693 miles - $25,995 $8,995 #76598A #2006A 2015 Ford Focus - 7,554 miles - 2015 Chevy Camaro - 99,010 miles- $20,995 $31,995 #29169B #63568A 2015 Chevy Traverse- 53,414 miles - 2015 Chevy Cruz - 52,042 miles - $16,995 $12,995 #78344B #P6031 2014 Chevy Traverse AWD - 64,562 miles - 2015 Chevy Impala - 26,533 miles - $22,995 #04835B $19,995 #83126A 2012 Chrysler 300 - 29,814 miles - 2013 Chevy Malibu - 75,580 miles - $19,995 $9,995 #17736B #75334A 2009 Toyota Camry - 97,704 miles - 2005 Chevy suburban - 152,142 miles - $8,995 $9,995 #P6044 #64312A
