Eclipse:

The Native Sol fest in-
cludes local vendors, tribal
dance exhibitions, family
games and prizes, and a pow-
wow. Vendors will open at 9
a.m. daily, with tribal dance
exhibitions on Saturday and
Sunday starting at 1 p.m.
This festival also features
musical performances by na-
tionally recognized artists in-
cluding Blue Flamez on Sat-
urday, and Kelly Jackson Sun-
day, starting both days at 5:30
p.m.
On August 21 the Native
Sol festival will host a pow-
wow starting at 11 a.m.
At the Academy
The Warm Springs Acad-
emy will host the Planetarium
and Student Robotics Com-
petition on Sunday, August
20.
Tribal youth are invited to
join the Northwestern Earth

Health and Human Services and Native Aspirations
are getting ready for the Native Sol weekend-
Monday Solar Eclipse Fest..
and Sciences Pipeline for the
planetarium and robotics
competition. This will be on
Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. The
Confederated Tribes and the
Academy are co-hosts

The Academy will also host
a star gazing party that Sun-
day. This will be from 10 p.m.
to 1 a.m. at the school foot-
ball field.
NASA will conduct a high-
altitude balloon launch from
the Academy on the morning
Solar eclipse viewing at the
Academy will be from 9 to
11:30 a.m. at the football
field.
Event organizers will pro-
vide free solar eclipse
glasses, solar eclipse viewing
telescopes, opportunities to
take a photo of the Sun, po-
tential live streaming from
balloon flights and opportu-
nities to explore the solar
system.
Experts will be on site to
answer questions.
The balloons will ascend to
the edge of outer space.
Equipped with cameras, they
will be able to photograph the
event, relaying the pictures
back to the team on the
ground.
NASA will then try to re-
trieve the balloons when they
come back to earth.

Jamboree with Recreation
Warm Springs Recre-
ation will host a Super
Hero theme jamboree
next week.
The jamboree will be
on from 2 to 8 p.m. on
Wednesday, August 9 at
the Pi-Ume-Sha fields.
There will be spcial per-
formances by the Dragon
Theatre Show. There will
be blow-up castles from 2-
6 p.m., face painting, bal-
loon figures and games
from 4-6 p.m.
The Flying Eagle Band
will perform from 5-7.
Scott ‘Blue Flamez’
Kalama will host a talent
show at 7 p.m. Bring your
lawn chair and wear your
favorite super hero tee!
Eclipse exhibit opening at gallery
Art Adventure Gallery in
Madras will open a new ex-
hibit, the 2017 Solar Eclipse
Epicenter Exhibit, this Thurs-
day, August 3. The opening
reception will be from 5:30
to 7 p.m.

Crook County Fair coming up
The Crook County Fair
is next Wednesday
through Saturday, August
9-12 in Prineville.
Countryfied will play on
the Friday evening of the

The Warm Springs Den-
tal Department today will
have a Summer Break Kids
Day. They will be working
to get all kids 1-18 current
on dental care needs, do-
ing exams, fluoride and
varnish treatments be-
tween 8-11 a.m. and 1-3
p.m. No appointments
needed, just check in first
at patient registration and
then the dental window.
The Recreation Pro-
gram is taking kids on a
field trip to the zoo. Stop
by the Community Center
to sign kids up.
The Timber Committee
meets on August 3 rd at 9am

Mighty Warriors classes

St. Charles Health Sys-

Springs Youth Center from
3-4:30. The focus is on
tools to build hope-filled liv-
ing, featuring team activi-
ties, joined by Native Aspi-
rations, Best Care and
Younity. For the Health of It
is open to kids, families
and adults looking for fun

healthy this summer. You
will earn a raffle entry for
attending, with a chance to
win prizes at a celebration
event in October.

and advocates to attend a
meet and greet dinner on

Youth Center. Breakfast is
at 8:30, and lunch is at
noon.
At the Boys & Girls Club,
at the Youth Center, Friday
afternoons after lunch at 1
p.m.: It’s Field Day Friday.
Kids can bring skates,
roller blades, bikes, scoot-
ers or skate boards.
The game room is open
for activities at the Commu-
nity Center today. There is
a morning walk at 8:10,
and then morning snack.
They will have their weekly
Morning Walk Raffle draw-
ing this morning. The more
often kids participate in
morning walks, the more
chances they have to win.
It’s free play Friday today
and Foosball Friday is at
11.

Kids 18 and under can

from 8-11:55 a.m. and from
1:10-4:50 weekdays. They
take a morning walk at
8:10, followed by morning
