A conversation on managing diabetes
This is a conversation with
Maria Godines, from the War m
Springs Diabetes Program:
goals they have for helping the
community with diabetes.
What is a hobby of yours?
What do you enjoy doing in
your time off ?
I like to work with my hands
and being creative. I like to sew,
bead, garden and bake.
How long have you worked
with the Diabetes team at the
Warm Springs Clinic?
I started work here late Decem-
ber 2016.
What motivated you to join
the Diabetes Program?
I have experience in the health
arena through working with Liv-
ing Well with Chronic Conditions—
LWCC—and being the care pro-
vider for my mother.
However, the staff that are
employed here are a big plus. I
really liked the job interview, it gave
me a glimpse of who I would be
working with and what their per-
Maria Godines

Tell us about your work in the
Diabetes Management pro-
gram.
What do you think is most
important for patients to do for
their own health?
Be mindful that your body is the
only one you have, and that there
is only one you, so take care of
yourself to last a life time.
What is your role or job with
the program, and what is your
favorite part of your job?
I am the administrative assistant.
There are many reasons why I
like my job, but I really like learn-
ing new tasks and being given more
responsibilities.
I enjoy helping where I can and
having the ability to do my job with
support when needed.
Why do you think manage-
ment of diabetes is important?
To ensure you are feeling the
best that you can, and to prevent
further complications that could
occur from diabetes.
