Dave McMechan/Spilyay General Council meeting on timber, WSFPI A General Council meet- ing is scheduled for Monday, August 22, at the Agency Longhouse. The topics of discussion will be the Warm Springs Forest Products Industries receivership, and the tribes’ August 17, 2016 plan to develop a new timber enterprise. The WSFPI receiver, and the business consultant for the new timber enterprise, are planning to be on hand to an- swer questions. The situation is complicated, as WSFPI had hundreds of creditors. Only a few these, though, are se- cured creditors. Regarding the timber en- terprise, the tribes have the valuable trust resource, the reservation timber, that pro- vides revenue for the Senior Pension and the per capita funds. Council has been study- ing the options as to how best to manage this resource in the future. The membership is encouraged to attend the Au- gust 22 meeting to learn more details.
