Page 6 Spilyay Tymoo, Warm Springs, Oregon Recreation hosting 22nd Cougars championships The Twenty-Second An- nual Warm Springs Cougars All Indian High School Girls and Boys Basketball Cham- pionships are scheduled for April 2-5. The games will be played at the Warm Springs Com- munity Center gymnasium and the old Warm Springs el- ementary school gym. (Note: April 2 is for locals should there be an overabundance of teams.) The tournament is open to the first eight girls teams, and first 12 Boys teams to sub- mit interest and entry fee. Deadline for team entry is set for this Friday March 20. Great season for Native Dreams March 18, 2015 Wild Horse Races, rodeo Friday and Saturday The Professional Wild Horse Racers Association Spring Stampede is this Friday and Saturday, March 20-21, at the Jefferson County Fair Complex in March. The event will feature the Colt Racing Finals, and the PWHRA sanctioned Wild Horse races. Other events: bull riding, bareback, saddle bronc, junior colt race, se- nior colt race, business- men cow race, and ranch saddle bronc. The Spring Stampede is brought to you by In- dian Head Casino. Action starts at 6:30 p.m. each day. Admission is $8 for 13-and-up; $6 for 6-12 year-olds; 5 and under free both nights. Hosted by the Jefferson County Fair Board. Congratulations to the seventh-grade girls basket- ball team Native Dreams. The team won the 2014-2015 Central Or- egon Basketball Organiza- tion League Title, going 11- 0. They represented the Warm Springs and Madras communities during the bas- ketball season from Novem- ber 2014 to March 2015. By winning the league they qualified for the state basketball championship for seventh-grade girls. They played in champion- ship in Redmond March 7-8, finishing the tourna- ment with two wins and two losses. Jayson Smith/Spilyay KNT mini-marathon in April The 2015 Kah-Nee-Ta Mini Marathon is coming up in April. The Warm Springs Recreation Department ev- eryone to participate. Awards will be given to the top three finishers for males and females in all age categories. All who enter the mini-marathon will be eligible to win a door prize. Every registered runner will also receive a pass for free entry into the Kah-Nee- Ta Village Pool (valid on the day of the race). The race course for the half-marathon is 14.5 miles. Water stations will be lo- cated at along the course. The 10k, 5k and one-mile fun run/walk is an out and back race course, starting flat, blending into up-hills, then flat into the rolling hills until the turn-around point. Twelve-dollar entry in- cludes t-shirt of your size; $8 entry without t-shirt. Day of race prices are $15 with t- shirt, and $10 without. MHS boys finish sixth The Madras High School boys varsity basketball team finished sixth in the Class 4A tournament. The Buffs almost won the fourth-place game, but the Cascade Cougars held on for a 51-49 victory. Jered Pichette almost won the game at the final buzzer, but his 3-point shot barely missed. Glenn Umtuch is a dedicated Custodial Lead of the Indian Head Casino Custo- dian Department. The casino chose Glenn as the February Employee of the Month. He is an enthusiastic team player, whose great work ethics helped earn him his Lead title. Congratulations Glenn!
