Senior water aerobics in Feb.
The Senior Wellness Pro-
gram will begin water aero-
bics classes starting in early
February.
The class has ended for
2014, and will resume on Feb.
5, 2015. The Kah-Nee-Ta
Village pool has closure days
throughout the winter.
The pool is closed Mon-
days, Tuesdays and Wednes-
days until 2015.
Nurturing, parenting class in Jan.
The Warm Springs Early
Childhood Education Center
is offering a 10-week Nurtur-
ing Parenting Class this
Wednesdays, starting Jan. 7.
The classes will be from
11 a.m. to 1 p.mm.
This class is sponsored by
the Parenting Education HUB
and Family Resource Center
of Central Oregon.
The curriculum offers the
latest parenting techniques,
explores how to set limits,
find positive approaches to
discipline, and how to help
their child prepare for school
success.
Registration is required.

Notice to new college students
The Warm Springs Edu-
cation Committee reminds
students planning on going to
college in 2015 that the next
SAT test date is Saturday, Jan.
24.
The test will be held at
Bend and Crook county high
schools. The fee deadline Jan.

You may be able to get a
fee waiver by completing an
income sur vey. Ask your
school counselor or a mem-
ber of the Education Com-
mittee for details.
Reminder
Warm Springs tribal mem-
bers interested in attending
college are reminded that the
Tribal Scholarship Application
deadline is July 1. One re-
quirement for the scholarship
is attendance at a FAFSA
workshop prior to March 1.
The next workshop is
Monday, Jan. 19 from 3-5
p.m. at the tribal administra-
tion building computer lab.
At the Warm Springs Eagle Academy there
is girls basketball, and a wrestling parent meet-
ing next Wednesday, Jan. 14 at 5 p.m.

Annual Warm Springs In-
dian Holiday Basketball
Tournament.
The first place team
was Portland.
Second place was Hos-
tile Schurz, Nevada.
Third place, Nespelem,
Wash.; and Fourth,
Hillcreek, Ft. Duchesne.
Fifth place: Those
Guys, of Warm Springs;
and sixth, Mountain
Bucks of Auberry, Calif.,
and Court Solider.
The All-Tourney All-
Star team included:

Girls finish
tourney with
50-23 win
The Madras High
School girls varsity basket-
ball team finished the Sis-
ters Holiday Tournament
with a 27-point win over
Illinois Valley, 50-23.
This was a welcome fin-
ish to the tourney, as the
girls had a couple of ear-
lier losses.
“They finished 2014
off on a good note,” said
White Buffaloes coach
Zach Lillebo.
One of the two earlier
losses at Sisters was by
two points, to Seaside.
In the New Years Eve
game against Illinois Val-
ley, Mariah Stacona had
15 points, and Hailey
Sloan had 10.

the top rebounder was
Joey Ventura of Hillcreek, Ft.
Duchesne
Leighton Pennington shoots a 3 during the
championship game of the Indian Holiday
Tournament. Leighton was named the MVP of
the tourney, leading Portland to a win against
the 2014 champ Hostile, Schurz, Nevada.
The girls had an away
game at Ridgeview in
Redmond on Tuesday of
this week.
They have a home game
this Wednesday, Jan. 7,
against Mountain View;
and they play away against
Bend Senior High on Jan.
13.
The MHS boys varsity
team is away at Mountain
View High School this
evening, Jan. 7.
They play at Philomath
on Friday, Jan. 9; and then
host Bend Senior High
School on January 13.
The boys finished 2014
with a win over Henley, 58-
54, on New Years Eve.
The day before they
had a win over Sisters, 63-
54.
