Page 2 Spilyay Tymoo, Warm Springs, Oregon October 15, 2014 Housing receives $500,000 grant At the N7 Sport Summit 35-unit subdivision work starting The Warm Springs Hous- ing Authority was awarded a grant recently in the amount of $500,000. This comes from the De- partment of Housing and Urban Development. The award to War m Springs was part of a total $60 million in funding that goes to more than 90 tribal communities. Warm Springs was one of two Oregon tribes to receive Financial Skills for Families starts in November the funding; Grand Ronde also received a $500,000 HUD grant award. The funding is to be used to improve housing condi- tions, and stimulate commu- nity development including construction projects and local jobs for low-income families. In other recent Housing news: New subdivision The infrastructure work is starting on the 35-unit sub- division at Greeley Heights. The plan is to have the first six units complete by February. The infrastructure part of this project is paid for by the Confederated Tribes. Funding for the housing comes from a state program, the Oregon Housing and Community Services Low In- come Housing Tax Credit program. This is the first time the tribes have used this source of funding. The subdivision, near Bear Drive and Mt. Jefferson Street, is called the Greeley Heights Subdivision IV; and will include the houses, side- walks, roadways and street lights. She is a fan favorite around Warm Springs, where she also has family and friends. At the recent summit the comedy group 1491s pro- vided some evening entertain- ment. The theme of the 2014 N7 Sport Summit was, “Seven Years of N7 Gathering Speed to Move Future Genera- tions.” The N7 Fund is a charitable organization committed to bringing sport, and all of its ben- efits to Native American communities. Aubrey Boynton is the Indian Head Casino Employee of the Month for September. This is Aubrey’s second time as winner of the Indian Head Employee of the Month award.
