Market, Re-Use It host opening celebration
T
he new Re-Use It shop
opened last Friday, with the
store owners marking the oc-
casion with a free hot dog
cookout, and cake.
This was not the official
grand re-opening of Re-Use
It, said Diana Macy, who
owns the store and Warm
Springs Market with her hus-
band Terry.
There will be another cel-
ebration when the Re-Use It
shop is complete, with a cof-
fee shop and deli in the back
area.
For now, though, the thrift
store part is open. And if the
opening last Friday is any in-
dication, people are liking the
new location. The parking lot
on opening day was full, as
people lined up at the cook-
out tent, then took a look
around the new store.
The building has been to-
tally remodeled, inside and
out, including a higher ceiling
and more shelving, a new
front porch, new windows
and paint.
The work is still going on,
as the coffee shop and deli
are not yet done.
Meanwhile, Re-Use It,
managed by Terry’s brother
Colby Statchwick, offers all
kinds of thrift store items:
furniture, clothing, toys, jew-
elry and kitchen-ware, novelty
items, among many items.

The store first came in to
the Macy family back in 1944,
when Dan Macy and wife
Priscilla bought the market
from the previous owner.
Next, Jimmy Macy and his
wife Luana were owners and
operators; then sold to Bobby
and Maria Macy, who had the
store for several years.
Terry and Diana bought
the market four years ago,
and have now kept the store
in the family for the past 70
years.

goods store. Many years ago
it was a market called
Massey’s Market.
There was competition
between the Massey and the

house the post office. Dan
Macy won the competition,
and at that point the Macys
bought out the other store.
