The framework is up for
the solar panels that will be
located next to the C redit
Enterprise building.
The project is being devel
oped by PGPV, based in Al
bany.
The tribes are leasing the
site to the company. Solar
energy from the cells will be
used to power the tribal ad
ministration building.
This will be a unique sys
tem in the region. The solar
panels will be moved during
the day by a robotic device.
The movem ent will keep
the cells in optimum line with
the sun. When the lease is up
on the property, the system
will be turned over to the
tribés.

People to People ambassador shares journal
(Jake Frank traveled to Eu
rope this p a st summer, as an
ambassador with the People to
People program. He kep a jou r
nal during the trip, and wishes
to share some o f the highlights.)
Day one: We were in the
a ir p o rt m o s t o f th e day.
While waiting in Portland for
the rest o f the Pordand del
egation, I got to know my
fellow Central O regon del
egates .... Flew to Newark. We
had a six hour layover plus
our flight was delayed two
hours. It was fun having the
w indow over the ocean; I
took some pictures while the
sun was rising.
Day two: O ur first day o f
the trip for learning som e
thing. We m et the California
group. T here were a lot o f
them. G o t along really well.
We went to H am pton C ourt
Palace. Lots o f gardens and
flowers. F or every garden
there were at least 20 differ
ent types o f flowers. There
were also lots o f statues. Be
fore going into the palace we
went into maze and we all got
lost for a while. In the palace
there were a lot o f tunnels
and rooms.
Day three: We got to see
the Changing o f the Guard
at Buckingham Palace. The
hats that the guard wear are
made o f pure bearskin. They
stand guard 24-hours until the
next guard is ready.
Day four: We drove
around London looking at all
the fam ous and infam ous
buildings. We had a great view
o f the City o f London while
riding the London Eye. I took
a great picture o f the Big
Ben. After the tour we went
to a college to hear a speech
from a form er Parliam ent
member.
Day five: We w ere in
Normandy, where the storm
ing o f O m aha Beach h ap
pened. Reading all the survi
vors stories was really shock
ing. This turned the tide o f
the war. The nice beaches we
see today were once a bloody
batde field...
Day six: We went to the
Louvre Museum, where I got
man card game. The girl was
pretty good. I taught them the
game Speed. The girl caught
on quick and was a champion.
T he boy was also good. I
thought they m ust work at a
casino.
Day fourteen: Went with
th e boy to the village for
some shopping so we could
go to his grandmother’s birth
day__ After lunch we headed
out to the next village to see
their grandm a. T he village
was old and small, with ev
erything close together. I met
the family. They were Very
good at football (soccer). I
show ed them how- to play
basketball. They loved it. I
enjoyed meeting the family.
(To be continued.)
to see a sight I ’ve always
wanted to see, the Mona Lisa.
After the museum we w ent
over to. th e E iffel Tower,
awesome. I took the stairs to
the top, losing 20 pounds. I
gained it all back at dinner,
though.
Day seven: I ’ve b een
gone for a Week and I barely
think o f home. The only thing
that reminded was when they
told us to call home. Took a
tour o f Paris. We saw people
celebrating the Fourth o f July
in fro n t o f th e A m erican
Em bassy. We all sang the
National Anthem. It sounded
terrible but we didn’t care. It
was a fun time in Paris.
Day eight: We traveled
by bus m ost o f the day, until
we got to Belgium, where we
had original Belgium choco
late, delicious.
Day nine: We took a bike
ride through the Netherland
countryside. There were no
hills. Netherlands is below sea
level, and is mostly flat. Rest
o f the day traveling.
Day ten: We saw the Anne
Frank house and got to go
inside. I got a book o f the
Anne Frank Diary. We went
on a canal cruise, and then to
a cheese farm and to a clog
makers shop.
Day eleven: We saw the
Grand Cathedral. It was sur
rounded by shopping centers.
We went shopping, I found a
nice coat th at cost alm ost
nothing.
Day twelve: We had a city
walk, then before dinner we
went to a falcon show: I got
to hold a falcon, heavy and
smooth. We learned about the
life cycle o f falcons. Very in
teresting.
Day thirteen: I g o t to
m eet my hom e-stay family.
T hey w ere really nice, the
mom, dad, brother and sis
ter. T hey liyed in the next
to w n qver, across from a
lake, and not in the giant city.
We w en t sw im m ing, awe
some. We had dinner. They
taught me how to play a G er
Trustee update was given.
