Kitchen fire causes damage at KNT
A fire in the kitchen area
la st w eek at K ah-N ee-T a
caused smoke, fire and wa
ter damage, and forced the
resort to close its main lodge.
A wild-land fire near the
reso rt then broke out two
days later, forcing the evacu
ation o f guests.
Regarding the kitchen fire,
W arm Springs F ire C hief
D an Martinez said the only
reported injury was to a cook,
who suffered second-degree
arm burns.
A fter th e k itc h en fire,
more than 350 people were
ev acu ated and m oved to
other hotels. Martinez says
guests were never in danger,
but firefighters had to turn
o ff the power grid because
water got into that.
T h e r e s o rt an n o u n c e d
th a t th e lo d g e w o u ld be
closed for four days; then
on Saturday the w ild-land
blaze broke out, requiring
evacuation.
