dents attended the classes,
called “Salmon, Streams,
and Science.”
Five stations w ere set
u p a t th e h a tc h e ry .

O ne station was on Pa­
c ific la m p re y , o r e els,
w here th e students w ere
able to handle adult and
juvenile lam prey. T h ere
was a dissection station,
and a habitat station allow­
in g s tu d e n ts to b u ild
“goo d ” habitat for fish.

Shitike Creek, where the stu­
dents form ed a hypothesis,
o r scientific question, and
conducted field sam pling to
answ er it.
“T h e goal of this project
was to get the kids outside
the classroom while incor­
p o r a tin g le a r n in g at th e
sam e time,” D ubisar said.
“I think w e achieved it.
I ’ve received overw helm ing
positive feedback about this
project, and I ’d like to see
‘Salmon, Stream s, and Sci­
e n c e ’ b e co m e an a n n u al
event,”’ she said.

reading.

dents from a collection o f six
books,” said M elinda Boyle,

have asked each stu d e n t to
tell u s th e ir fa v o rite b o o k
from the collection. T hanks
to o u r sponsors, w e will be
