Leadership Comer
fl message from Rick ITIoUtor
Superintendent
The new K-8 school in Warm
Springs is looking to be a great
addition for our students. All
the help and support the staff
and community members have
provided for the design process
has allowed us to strengthen
the relationship between the
Tribes and the school district. Dawn Smith (Warm
Springs Elementary School principal) and Simon
White (Jefferson County Middle School principal)
will continue their work on academic excellence
with their respective schools. The district will
be posting for a planning principal to help bring
the vision of the new K-8 building to reality. We
are looking forward to our continued work in
creating a better future for our all of our students.
Thank you for allowing me the opportunity
(to work with our greatest assets, the children of
our district. I invite you to contact me with any
questions or concerns at rmolitor@509j.net or
^oll / <411475-6192.
More literacy. More choices.

Richard DeLorenzo joins JCSD to create
world class learning environment
Jefferson County School District 509-J is excited to
welcome Richard DeLorenzo to our communities
and schools. As an internationally reknown leader in
education, he aims to support school districts in their
quest to create a world class learning environment for
local students. Rather than focusing on a traditional
i school setting, Mr. DeLorenzo highlights the importance
of students taking control of and helping direct their own learning.
His mission involves producing schools that offer every child the
opportunity to fulfill his or her dreams and full potential. As a former
member of the Chugach School District in rural Alaska, he is familiar
with effective learning styles and will work to share them with our
teachers, Staff and students.
