Indian Business Talk
Preparation an essential part of business success
By Bruce Engle

Practice m akes perfect...
I t ain’t necessarily so. B et

practice is to m ake the right
things h appen som ew hat au

M any su c c e ssfu l p e o p le

Practice is a p a rt o f p rep a

P reparation fo r a success
ful businessperson is sim ilar
to all o f th e above. Ideally, it
starts young.
Som e o f the ingredients
are:
• H e lp f u l p a r e n t s a n d

■ School. K -12 at least. A

Spelling isn’t an R b u t it helps.
• G row ing up in a family
b u sin ess— hopefully, a su c

acquire skills, know ledge, at

T h ere is a difference b e

T h in k o f “ acq u irin g ” as
total im m ersion— you so rt o f

as “natural.”
Learning to swim w ould be
an exam ple. R eading a b o u t
how to swim isn’t the sam e
as being th ro w n in and hav

•W orking in a similar busi

start. T h a t way you learn the
sp ecifics o f th a t p a rtic u la r

chance to be well trained in
the business while earning a
living and saving your start
