“We decided to provide
a m eal to the com m unity,
and provide school supplies
so th e basic needs o f the

Q uaid said.
This year the backpacks
and t-shirts were purchased
by th e J o h n s o n O ’M alley
(JOM) Committee.
JO M really wanted to fo

year, said D e a n ie S m ith ,
JO M chairwoman. “Kids will
be em pow ered by having a
nice backpack, new school
supplies and new t-shirt,” she
said.
Student Kahne Herkshan
shared his thanks: “We don’t
have to spend m ore money,
and we can get a fresh start
with school,” he said.
The Back to School BBQ
has been planned to happen
w hen the teachers are back
to work, but before school is
back in session.
Quaid explains, “The BBQ
sets the stage so the teachers
can m eet the students and the
principals can m eet the stu

school starts, to get know
each o th er and enjoy each
others’ company.”
It’s a wonderful welcome
back, and for those new to

“ We are th rille d the
